Chapter 90

Nicolas walked up to Zoya. “Zoya, I want us to make a final break.”

Zoya looked coldly at Nicolas. “I don’t think there’s anything left to settle between us.”

Nicolas spread his hands open, revealing two inexpensive wedding rings lying quietly in his palms. “You left these two rings on the nightstand when we got divorced, so I figured I’d take care of them now.”

Zoya looked at the wedding rings in his hand, two cheap rings, bargains from the thrift store.

She couldn’t help but think, ‘Back then, I was truly deluded, thinking that as long as he had me in his heart, even the cheapest wedding rings didn’t matter, and their value was completely unimportant.

‘I even foolishly believed his words that once he made money, he would buy me a better ring.

‘But the truth is, when a man only buys cheap rings from the thrift store as the wedding ring, it means he didn’t love the woman at all.’

So, even if Nicolas made money after marriage and bought better rings, they weren’t for Zoya, but for Jasmine!

Zoya’s gaze passed over the wedding rings in Nicolas’s hand and finally landed on an emerald ring worn on Jasmine’s hand.

The emerald green gemstone stood out strikingly.

“Zoya, why are you looking at Jasmine’s ring? No matter how beautiful it is, it’s not yours,” Daphne said sarcastically.

Wren cast a lazy glance at Daphne. “It seems you really do talk too much.”

A sudden chill ran up Daphne’s spine, and she felt a faint ache returning to her neck, where the bruises had already faded.

Zoya told Wren, “This is my business. I’ll handle it myself.”

She then looked at Daphne and said, “How do you know the ring on Jasmine’s hand isn’t mine? Nicolas bought this ring for Jasmine behind my back while we were married. So, I can reclaim it. Naturally, this ring is mine.”

Daphne froze, and the gazes of others around them shifted as they looked at Nicolas and Jasmine after hearing those words.

Nicolas’s hand, holding the two wedding rings, trembled, and the rings nearly slipped from his grasp.

Jasmine’s expression changed. “How dare you claim this wedding ring is yours? Nicolas bought this with money he earned from his startup! If you’re truly independent, buy a ring with your own money instead of just demanding what others have earned!”

Zoya sneered, casting a glance at Nicolas from the corner of her eye. “You say this is money Nicolas earned? Fine, then I hope he can still earn this much money in the future!”

Jasmine proudly lifted her chin. “Without you holding him back, he’ll naturally do much better!” She then thought to herself, ‘Besides, I’ll be there to help him.’

“I must say, I didn’t expect you to be so forgetful,” Zoya said.

She walked past Nicolas and stopped in front of Jasmine before continuing, “After I took that necklace off your neck last time, you still dare to wear the jewelry Nicolas gave you during our marriage and show it off in front of me?

“Or have you been a thief for so long that you really think these jewels are yours?”

Jasmine’s face suddenly flushed red. “What thief! Nicolas gave these to me!”

“He gave them to you? Why was his wedding ring just a cheap thrift store item back then, but he gave you a ring worth millions of dollars?” Zoya asked.

The people around them started whispering, and their gazes at Jasmine were filled with disdain.

Jasmine grew even more embarrassed. “Nicolas gave me jewelry because I once saved his life! Zoya, I saved Nicolas’s life. What about you? What have you ever given him?”

“Is that so?” Zoya scoffed, suddenly grabbing Jasmine’s right hand, which was wearing the ring.

Jasmine cried out in pain, “Zoya, what are you doing!”

Nicolas desperately tried to charge forward, but Wren stopped him and said, “Anyone who steps forward will have their legs broken.”

His calm tone carried an overwhelming sense of intimidation.

No one dared to move another step. After all, no one dared to gamble on whether Wren would actually cripple their legs.

Nicolas angrily looked at Wren. “Mr. Richmond, if you do this, it will only empower Zoya to

bully others even more.”

Wren gave a faint smile and said, “If she needs power to rely on, I’ll give her mine. If she wants to bully others, I’ll join her!”

Nicolas’s expression immediately changed upon hearing these words. The people around them, including many members of the Lucero family, also showed surprise.

After all, Daphne had stayed by Wren’s side, even losing an eye for him, yet Wren had never said such words for Daphne’s sake.

But now, Wren was saying such words to stand up for Zoya.

‘Does this mean Wren is willing to be Zoya’s powerful patron?’ Everyone couldn’t help but wonder.

Daphne gritted her teeth tightly, looking at Zoya with jealous hatred.

‘Damn it!’ Daphne cursed inwardly. She had originally intended to use Nicolas to humiliate Zoya today.

But now, it seemed she was the one being humiliated.

At that moment, Zoya dragged Jasmine directly toward the sea.

Jasmine’s face flashed with terror. “What… What are you doing? Zoya, don’t act recklessly!”

“What am I doing?” Zoya looked at her, amused. “Didn’t you claim to be the one who saved Nicolas? You must be an excellent swimmer to rescue someone with eight stab wounds from a river. So, this should be no problem for you.”

Jasmine froze, not yet understanding, when Zoya, who had been holding her finger, suddenly gripped the emerald ring on her fingertip.

Almost instantly, the emerald ring landed in Zoya’s hand. And as Zoya’s grip completely released, Jasmine stumbled backward and fell into the sea,

“No! Help! Help!” Jasmine waved her hands frantically, struggling and screaming.

Nicolas tried to rush forward, but Wren held his shoulders firmly, preventing him from breaking free.

Daphne yelled at Zoya, “Zoya, are you trying to kill her? No matter how much you envy Jasmine, you can’t be a murderer!”

“A murder?” Zoya sneered. The sea was calm at that moment, and as for Jasmine, floundering

in the water… “I thought Ms. Ingram was a skilled swimmer. I never imagined she’d struggle so much even in calm water!”

As Zoya spoke, she reached out and pulled Jasmine up. Jasmine regained her footing and then realized the seawater only reached her waist.

In an instant, Jasmine’s cheeks burned scarlet with embarrassment.

Zoya turned her head, looking directly at Nicolas. “Even now, do you still believe Jasmine is the one who saved your life? Was it she who saved you from the surging river after you were stabbed eight times?”

Frozen in place, Nicolas watched Zoya and Jasmine with widening eyes, his throat tightening as though choked by unseen hands.
