Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 226

Haskell sensed a shift in her mood. He put down the magazine he was reading and looked up at her with a smile. “Who upset you?”

Larissa sat down and opened her needle case. “Honora. Talking to her is about as pleasant as being constipated.”

The analogy was so vivid that Haskell couldn’t help but chuckle.

“She knows I can heal your legs. I think she wants you back,” Larissa said, glancing at him.

Haskell looked genuinely baffled. “I don’t think I’ve ever given her any reason to think that. Where does she get this blind confidence?”

“Because you’re a man,” Larissa replied.

Haskell picked up the lunch box, raising an eyebrow. “And all men like women like Honora?”

“That’s what she seems to think.”

He opened the container. “I can’t speak for all men, but I certainly don’t.”

Larissa shrugged. “Whatever. She’s not worth my time anyway. I’m just keeping her around to watch her backstab Paxton’s family when she gets desperate enough.”

Haskell agreed. “Exactly. Why waste our time together talking about her? It’s a complete waste of a good moment.”

Larissa laughed and began Haskell’s treatment.

As Haskell ate the lunch Larissa had brought, he found the food exceptionally delicious. He didn’t know what Honora had said to her, but her reaction told him one thing: she cared about him.

And that made him very happy.

Two days ago?

Honora froze. That was the day she found out Leopold was investigating her. So he had been looking into both of them.

A wave of panic washed over her, but she forced herself to remain calm.

“Was there anything else on his phone?” she asked, testing the waters.

Finley shook his head. “No, just this.”

Honora breathed a silent sigh of relief. It seemed he hadn't found out about her hiring someone to assault Larissa.

She put on a look of lingering fear. “I ran into Larissa in the parking lot and rode the elevator with her. Just thinking about it now gives me chills. Finley… if Grandpa knew she had such a twisted past, do you think he could ever accept her?”
