After resting for a moment, Honora took out a small syringe she had hidden inside a lipstick tube from the new designer bag Finley had given her.
Leopold’s excitement vanished, replaced by a surge of disgust as he felt the familiar prick of a needle in his elbow. The moment he woke up, the very first thing he would do was expose this venomous woman for who she truly was.
Just then, he heard a phone ring. After a moment, the ringing stopped, and he heard Honora’s voice.
“Is the person you found this time reliable? Not like that last useless idiot who’s still missing!”
“There can’t be any mistakes this time! If we fail, you and I could both be finished!”
“Money is no object! Just make sure that bitch Larissa is dead!”
“And remember, no one can trace this back to me!”
Worry seized Leopold. It was happening again. That evil woman was plotting something, and this time, it was even worse. She wanted to kill his sister.
He had to warn her. He had to tell Larissa. But no matter how hard he struggled against the darkness, he couldn't wake up.
“Once Larissa cures me, I’ll make sure she disappears from this world for good. For now, let her enjoy her little victory.”
Leopold’s mind screamed in panic, “What can I do? How can I warn my sister?”
He hated his own powerlessness. He had treated his own sister so horribly, and now, knowing she was in danger, he could do nothing to help. He truly was useless.
In the end, all he could do was pray that his brilliant, capable sister would be able to get herself out of this.
“She’ll be okay,” he told himself desperately. “My sister is too smart and strong. She’ll be okay.”
Larissa looked at Haskell. “Why would Solomon take Draven? To threaten you? He was at the engagement party, he did see how Draven tried to harm you. Why would he think you’d go save him?”
She paused, then asked, “Or are you actually planning to go to Africa to save him?”
Haskell’s expression was calm. “Whether Draven is my real brother or not, I have a reason to save him. If he is my brother, I will try to spare his life. If he’s not, he might know where my real brother is.”
“That’s true,” Larissa said thoughtfully. “But Solomon has been building his power in Africa for years. He has a massive network and influence there. Rescuing someone from his territory won’t be easy.”
But Haskell merely smiled, a hint of confidence in his eyes. “I don’t have to go to Africa to save Draven.”
Larissa raised an eyebrow, curious. “Oh? Then what’s your plan?”
A glint appeared in Haskell’s eyes as he spoke a single sentence. “To give him a taste of his own medicine.”
