Vivica knew how much her son adored his adopted sister. To hear him say this the moment he woke up was startling.

“Leopold, Honora barely slept, staying by your side at the hospital day and night. How can you say we were deceived by her?”

Her anger flared again as she glared at Larissa. “You wretched girl! What did you do to him just now? There was something wrong with that silver needle!”

Larissa sneered. “Vivica, didn’t your son just tell you to be quiet? Or are you deaf?”

“You—!” Vivica sputtered.

Leopold, growing desperate, yelled with all his might, “Mom, I told you it has nothing to do with my sister! Can you please just shut up for a minute! This is all because of that evil woman, Honora!”

The term “evil woman” stunned Finley. Leopold detested Honora that much?

Startled by her son’s outburst and fearing for his fragile state, Vivica quickly backed down. “Okay, okay, I won’t say another word.”

Honora’s fingers dug into her palms. She decided to get ahead of the story, her eyes filling with tears.

“Leopold, I know what you’re going to say,” she choked out. “And yes… I admit it. I deceived you all.”

She bowed deeply to Paxton, Vivica, and Finley.

Paxton, however, couldn’t care less about what his adopted daughter had done to his biological one. To him, this was just a petty squabble for affection. All he cared about now was their family’s future. Would they truly be left with nothing?

The only person who could reverse their fate was Larissa. Therefore, they had to win her forgiveness.

Swallowing his pride, Paxton turned on Honora, his voice thunderous. “Honora! So you did this to my daughter behind our backs? Kneel!”

Without a moment’s hesitation, Honora dropped to her knees, tears streaming down her face. “Dad, Mom, Finley, Leopold, I’m so sorry. I truly know I was wrong.”

“Honora,” Paxton spat, “your mother and I always thought you were a kind, gentle girl. We never imagined you were capable of such despicable things! You’ve disappointed us beyond words!”
