A wave of profound pain and despair washed over Leopold. His heart was heavy with regret and guilt, and the look he gave Larissa was one of deep shame.
“Larissa, don’t worry. We won’t let her get away with it. We won’t let her taint you ever again.”
To his surprise, Larissa just scoffed. “Honora isn’t the one dirtying my sight. You and Finley are.”
The color drained from Leopold’s face. He staggered back a step as if he’d been slapped. He hung his head in shame.
“I’ll go now,” he said, his voice barely a whisper.
He turned to leave but paused at the doorway. Looking back at Larissa, his gaze was firm as he made a solemn promise. “Larissa, I swear, I will never let anyone from the Lincoln family lay a single finger on you.”
Larissa snorted, not even bothering to look at him. “You should take a look at your own situation first.”
Leopold knew that no promise he made would mean anything to her now. With a silent vow locked in his heart, he left Starlight Media, looking utterly lost.
After he was gone, Ursa spoke up hesitantly. “Ms. Judson, are you really going to terminate Leopold’s contract? He has so much potential. He’s handsome, has a great voice, and he’s a talented songwriter. With the right promotion, he could be a huge star again. He could bring in a lot of revenue for the company…”
“There are plenty of people who can become stars,” Larissa said flatly. “I have no interest in promoting someone who disgusts me.”
She picked up her phone and dialed the number of Leila Baylor, the woman Finley had rescued from Garrick Palmer.
Leila answered quickly, her voice tinged with excitement. “Ms. Judson.”
“If you’re free today, come to Starlight Media. I want to talk about signing you.”
“Yes! Of course!”
After hanging up, Larissa turned to Ursa, who was still standing there.
After leaving Starlight Media, Finley walked to his car in the parking garage.
Just as he was about to open the door, a figure stepped out from the shadows, blocking his path.
Finley’s brow furrowed, his eyes wary. Before he could speak, a mocking laugh echoed through the garage.
“Well, well, Finley. I heard your whole family got kicked out of the Judson estate by Larissa. Tsk, tsk. How the mighty have fallen.”
Finley’s heart pounded. He whipped his head toward the voice.
Garrick strolled toward him, his hands casually tucked in his pockets. “You had a lot of nerve back then, Finley. Daring to snatch my prize right out from under my nose.”
Finley’s face was pale, but he remained silent. He knew Garrick was here for revenge for what happened at the hotel.
