Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 517

But Solomon had no intention of honoring their deal.

“It was just a promise,” he said with a dismissive shrug. “Did you really take it seriously? Finley, when you were running your company, did you trust every promise you were given? Don’t you know that only a signed and sealed contract is legally binding?”

He had come to the estate today to get his sister cured, hoping to use the situation to teach Haskell a lesson in front of their grandfather. Instead, Haskell had walked away with a piece of the family fortune. He was in no mood to care about Finley’s fate.

Finley trembled with rage. Not only had Solomon broken his promise, but he was now mocking him for it.

But this was the Palmer estate, and he was facing a Palmer. All he could do was swallow his anger.

“Solomon, I betrayed my own sister again to come here and testify for you!” he pleaded. “Are you really going to go back on your word in front of your grandfather?”

“So what if I do?” Solomon retorted. “Do you think my grandfather cares? You were the fool who trusted me so easily.”

Finley’s hands balled into fists.

Larissa added another blow. “Finley, Solomon’s right. You were a fool to trust him without any leverage. You never learn, do you? You let Honora wrap you around her little finger and foolishly gave her your chance at a cure. Otherwise, you’d be free of this poison by now.”

The added scorn from his own sister was more than Finley could bear. His eyes reddened, and his voice cracked. “Larissa, you know I was deceived by Honora! Why do you keep holding it against me? I’ve paid for every mistake I made against you! I tried to ruin your face, but you severed the tendons in my leg, and now I’m a cripple! I conspired with Draven to frame you, but I lost my inheritance! I’ve been brought this low, isn’t that enough for you?”

“No,” Larissa said, her voice devoid of emotion.

The single word was a final, crushing blow. The last of Finley’s strength seemed to drain away.

Seeing his deathly pale face, Larissa added one last, cruel twist. “If you hadn’t shown up here today to testify against me, I might have, one day, taken pity on you and given you the cure. But you chose, once again, to try and hurt me to get what you wanted. So why would I ever show you pity or forgiveness?”

Solomon fought to keep his composure. “My sister has just been cured. I need to tell our parents the good news. We won’t be staying to celebrate with you, Haskell.”

“What a shame,” Haskell said, his voice dripping with false regret.

Solomon didn't want to spend another second in that house. He stood and addressed Zoltan. “Grandpa, my sister and I will not be joining you for dinner.”

Zoltan waved his hand dismissively. “Go on.”

Faith also stood. “Grandpa, we’ll be leaving now.”

After that, she grabbed her bag and followed her brother out of the room.
