Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 649

After finishing Sire’s treatment, Larissa and Haskell left the apartment complex.

On the way back to Starlight Media, Larissa asked, “Haskell, do you know the full story of how your mother saved Sire?”

Haskell thought for a moment. “She told me a little about it. I remember she said he had been forced to drink some kind of toxic chemical that destroyed his throat. She rescued him and arranged for him to learn sign language.”

“She wanted to find him a job for the hearing-impaired,” he continued, “but he refused. He wanted to be her bodyguard.”

“Do you think,” Larissa mused, “that all twenty-four of the bodyguards your mother left you were people she helped?”

“I’ve suspected as much,” Haskell admitted, “but I’ve never asked them.”

It reminded Larissa of her own organization. Many of its members were fiercely loyal because she had given them a new life. Others were simply brilliant minds she had discovered and given a chance to shine.

...

[You’re going to Ms. Judson’s birthday party?]

Sire signed to Rigby after Larissa and Haskell had left. He had overheard their conversation from his room.

Rigby nodded, having already tucked the invitation away.

“Yes,” he lied. “Ms. Judson gave me a chance when no one else would. I want to be there to celebrate with her.”

Sire watched him thoughtfully. [Why didn’t you get an invitation for me?]

“Your mother has been staring at that thing all day, just waiting for you to get home,” Neville teased.

It was just as beautiful as the design sketches—a strapless gown of pale, shimmering blue, intricately embroidered. The fabric was of the highest quality, giving it an ethereal glow.

Larissa ran her hand over the delicate material.

“It’s stunning,” she breathed, looking at her mother. “Even better than the sketches. Mom, you have incredible taste.”

Sapphira blushed with pleasure. “I’m glad you like it.”

“I’m going to make sure everyone at the party knows you designed this,” Larissa declared.
