“You know perfectly well,” she said, then leaned down and kissed him.

The kiss was light, a soft touch, but Haskell had no intention of stopping there. With a low chuckle, he cupped the back of her head, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss.

The gentle exploration ignited into a passionate fire. Their lips and tongues met in a heated, silent conversation, a desperate search for comfort and connection. The world dissolved around them, leaving only the taste of each other and the frantic beating of their hearts.

“Okay,” he agreed readily.

She playfully rolled her eyes. “You’re too proper, Haskell. I offer you the room next to mine, and you don’t even try to get into mine?”

He smiled. “With my legs still out of commission, sharing a bed with you would be the most exquisite torture imaginable.”

Larissa burst out laughing. “Good point. Okay, I’ll stop teasing.”

After settling Haskell in his room, Larissa returned to her own. The three little snakes were wrestling playfully in their new nests.
