Larissa’s expression remained unchanged. “I was just trying to clear my own name and put your father in prison,” she said flatly. “Saving your mother was just a side effect.”

A wave of bitterness washed over Leopold. He understood her meaning, of course, but the fact that his mother had been saved was undeniable.

After a moment of silence, he said slowly, "I know. But you still saved my mom. That's a fact."

His words hung in the air for a moment before he seemed to gather his resolve. "Well, I should go. I guess this is goodbye... Farewell. Perhaps it’s better if we never see each other again."

"I would prefer that," Larissa replied without hesitation.

A bitter smile touched Leopold’s lips before he turned and walked away, his steps heavy as if he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Larissa watched him go, her gaze following his figure until he disappeared completely from sight. Only then did she look away, her eyes returning to her computer screen. She found herself wondering what it would be like to have two older brothers who actually cared.

It was a shame she would never find out.

After leaving Starlight Media, Leopold went to Gale Entertainment to find Magnus, the manager who had poached him, to discuss terminating his contract. As luck would have it, he ran into Magnus just as he was leaving the HR department.

"Magnus, I need to talk to you—"

"Whatever it is, you don't need to find me anymore. I've been fired," Magnus said, meeting Leopold’s stunned gaze. "Look, you know I recommended Damon poach you because I saw your talent. I thought you could bring in some serious revenue for Gale. But then you lost spectacularly in a head-to-head battle with Larissa, and on top of that, the whole fiasco with Theon sent our stock into a nosedive. Damon's had enough. He promised us double our old salaries to jump ship from Starlight, but now he's backing out and firing every last one of us who came from there."

Leopold was shocked. "All of you?"

Magnus scoffed at the noise. "What's the point of protesting? We never even signed official employment contracts, just a three-month probationary agreement."

Another voice lamented, "Who would have thought? Gale Entertainment is one of the oldest and most established agencies in Regal City, backed by the Lincoln family. It seemed impossible for them to fail. Even if they didn't give us double pay, as long as it was better than Starlight, it would have been fine. But who knew…"

"Hah, forget it. The way things are going, Gale Entertainment is going to go under sooner or later. There's no point in staying here anyway."

After venting, Magnus finally turned back to Leopold. "So, what did you want to see me about?"

"I was going to talk to you about terminating my contract," Leopold said.

Magnus let out a derisive laugh. "You should just go straight to Damon. He'd probably be thrilled to let you go right now. Cold, hard cash is more valuable to him than keeping you on the payroll." After a pause, he asked, "But where are you going to get the money for the breach of contract fee?"
