Larissa's Game of Thrones (Larissa) novel Chapter 84

“Speaking of which, is anyone else missing?”

“Yeah, who’s not here yet?”

“The Palmers haven’t arrived,” Honora said smoothly. “And neither have the Dillons.”

The Palmers were the most powerful family in Regal City, and the Dillons were nearly as influential. Their presence was highly anticipated.

At the mention of the Palmers, the gossip mill started churning again.

“Honora, is it true that Haskell is really crippled?”

“I heard he can’t have children, either. Is that true?”

Leopold, not wanting to put Honora on the spot, answered for her. “His legs are paralyzed. As for whether he can have children, we wouldn’t know.”

“So… Honora, what about your engagement to him…?”

“The engagement between Honora and Haskell was called off,” Leopold announced, deliberately emphasizing his next words. “Because my newly returned cousin volunteered to marry him.”

The crowd exchanged knowing glances. “Well, with her background, marrying Haskell is probably the best she can hope for.”

Just then, a stir at the entrance drew everyone’s attention.

The Palmers had arrived. Every head in the ballroom turned.

“What’s going on? Even Zoltan Palmer himself is here!”

Honora had raised her hand to wave as Haskell glanced in her direction, but when he looked away without acknowledgment, she awkwardly lowered her arm, a sting of resentment rising within her.

When Haskell was the golden boy of Regal City, she could understand his coldness. But now? He was a cripple. What right did he have to be so arrogant?

Beside them, Draven’s hands clenched into fists. There was nothing he hated more than hearing how he didn’t measure up to Haskell. He memorized the face of the woman who had spoken, silently vowing that she would be the first person he dealt with once he became the head of the Palmer family.

Paxton and Vivica rushed forward, intercepting Zoltan before Neville could. “We didn’t expect you to come in person, Zoltan!” Paxton gushed.

Zoltan nodded curtly. “I came to see the woman my grandson has chosen.”

His eyes flickered toward Honora, the center of a glittering circle of admirers, before dismissing her. “She isn’t here yet?”

Paxton sighed dramatically. “No. Larissa is just… that way. We’ve tried to teach her some manners since she arrived, but I suppose Neville and Sapphira haven’t made much progress.”
