Larissa said calmly, "Mom, it's not the first day you've known me. You know what kind of person I am, don't you? I won't take the blame for something I didn't do."
After a pause, she continued, "Whoever made the mistake will take responsibility. All we have to do now is wait for the results of Haskell's investigation, and everything will be clear."
Sapphira was finally relieved. "You're right. I've never had to worry too much about you."
"Mom, even though Haskell is helping us investigate, I can't just sit around," Larissa added. "I need to find out if this incident has anything to do with the Lincoln family, so…"
"I know, don't worry about me," Sapphira said with understanding. "I can't do much, so the best way I can help you and your father is by not causing any trouble."
"Don't say that, Mom. Just you waiting for us at home is the greatest encouragement for Dad and me," Larissa said, looking at her mother. She noticed the dark circles under Sapphira's eyes. "Mom, did you not sleep well last night? You should get some more rest today."
"Alright."
With her daughter home, Sapphira's heart was finally at ease. She obediently went back to her room to rest.
After watching her mother leave, Larissa took out her phone, about to call Nightveil. But just then, a call came in from Finley Judson.
Larissa didn't hang up; she answered it.
"Larissa, I saw what happened with Judson Pharmaceuticals. I'm sorry. This probably has nothing to do with my uncle Neville. The problem must have started back when my father was still in charge."
Larissa sat down on the sofa. "It's not clear yet, it's under investigation. But it's highly likely the problem originated from a hidden issue back when your father was managing the company."
"I'm so sorry, I really am…"
He was at a loss for words.
"Help me take the fall, like the Lincoln family?" Larissa continued.
He seemed to struggle for a moment before saying, "If you think it would help, I'm willing to take the blame for Neville… no, for my father."
"I'm not as incompetent as Lucius Lincoln," Larissa said. "I don't need anyone to take the fall for me."
Her tone turned cold. "Alright. If you've truly decided to go to Spire Village to care for Grandpa, then stick to it. Don't be half-hearted. The only reason I answered your call today is because Leopold came to see me, and I knew you would too. I'm giving you this one last chance to settle things. After this, don't bother me again."
"…I understand… Uncle Neville will be alright. I'll stick to my plan and leave for Spire Village tomorrow. So, I was hoping I could come to the estate today to see you and Aunt Sapphira. Is that okay? You must be busy, and I'm worried Sapphira will let her imagination run wild if she's alone."
