The next evening, Honora had Ianthe summoned to the very apartment Lucius had arranged for her. She was in the middle of a house call for a fresh manicure, and she glanced up impatiently. “Ianthe, right? Well? Have you made up your mind?”
Ianthe kept her head down, her hands twisting together nervously for a long moment before she finally looked up and mustered the courage to say, “I won’t do it.”
A vicious glint flashed in Honora’s eyes.
This woman was just a pathetic, broke girl with no connections. What made her think her pride was worth a damn?
“You won’t, is that right? Fine. In that case, I guess everyone you know will be seeing these nude photos of you.”
With a flick of her wrist, Honora tossed a stack of photos from the table onto the woman.
Ianthe looked down, and her breath caught in her throat. The stark-naked woman in the pictures was, unmistakably, her. They showed her in all sorts of settings and poses, but in every single one, her eyes were closed.
She had no idea when they could have been taken.
The color drained from her face, leaving her deathly pale.
“All done, Honora,” the nail technician said.
Honora lifted her hand, admiring her new nails and blowing on them lightly. “I’ll give you one last chance to answer my question. Will you do it or not?”
Instead of answering, Ianthe collapsed to her knees, burying her face in her hands as she sobbed uncontrollably.
“So irritating!” Honora slammed her hand on the table and stood, stalking toward the crying woman. She was about to grab Ianthe by the hair and teach her a lesson when her phone, lying on the sofa, began to ring.
The nail technician, who was packing up her tools, glanced at the screen. “Honora, it’s the administrator from the Luminary Arts Centre.”
Honora abandoned her plan to deal with Ianthe. Turning back, she snatched up the phone and answered, barely containing her temper. “What is it?”
[I heard the Luminary Arts Centre was a gift from Lucius to Honora!]
[Pretty generous, just giving her a whole company like that!]
[Heh. No wonder our Livia broke up with him! Scumbag!]
Moments later, Tawny retweeted a post: #Save The Girls From The Luminary Centre
It was a personal account from a woman detailing how she was tricked into joining the center. She thought it was a legitimate school to learn new skills and meet a wealthy husband, but it was actually a front that forced women into prostitution for powerful men.
The internet exploded.
[The Luminary Arts Centre again! I remember an influencer who married some actor came out of that place!]
