“If I couldn't prove it, Sire would have still detonated the car. Of course, I was bluffing Sire. With Crispin there, he never actually had a chance to blow up the car.”
Zoltan remained silent throughout the ordeal. He, too, had no idea what Haskell was planning. All he knew was that Fraser and Solomon intended to use Sire against him. He had been completely in the dark about Haskell putting Fraser, Solomon, and Thatch in his car today. So he was just as curious to see what Haskell had in store.
It wasn't until the drone appeared and Sire threatened to press the button that Zoltan finally understood Haskell’s true intention: to force Fraser and Solomon to confess their actions.
What an unexpectedly brilliant turn of events.
For Fraser and Solomon, however, their world came crashing down. They had lost, completely and utterly.
But what else could they have done? In such a perilous situation, they weren't about to gamble with their own lives.
Fraser looked at Haskell, his voice filled with bitter resentment. “Haskell, I can't believe you actually dared to gamble with Grandpa's life!”
Haskell replied coolly, “And I never thought you and Solomon would actually dare to use Grandpa’s life as a pawn, all for the position of heir to the Palmer family.”
Fraser let out a hollow laugh. “Just for the position of heir? It’s always been within your grasp, so of course you don’t care. We’ve always had to settle for your leftovers. Why? We’re all his grandsons, so why do you get to inherit nearly the entire Palmer fortune and bask in the spotlight, while you swoop in and reap the rewards of our hard work?”
Solomon added, “Grandpa, can you honestly say you didn't have to fight tooth and nail against your own siblings to become the Palmer family heir?”
Zoltan couldn't help a self-deprecating smile. “You’re right. But you two are far more ruthless than I ever was. We fought brutally back then, but none of us ever considered killing our own parents or grandparents to get ahead.”

Larissa grinned at Haskell. “You go do what you need to do, Haskell. I’ll take care of Grandpa Zoltan.”
Haskell smiled gracefully. “Alright. But Larissa, my grandfather is old and just went through a life-or-death situation. Please drive carefully.”
Larissa replied, “You got it!”

With that, she stomped on the gas, and the car shot off with a roar.
