Haskell's smile vanished from the screen, his voice turning colder than Larissa had ever heard it. "Wipe out the entire village? He really thinks he's untouchable."

He then shared his own findings. "I dug up something on Jedidiah and Jedidron. It turns out Jedidiah did have a twin brother, but for some reason, he was given away at a young age. Jedidron grew up to be a small-time gangster, just like my brother said, running with a rough crowd and shaking people down for money."

"But then, Jedidron suddenly vanished, as if he'd been erased from the world. Right after he disappeared, Jedidiah went abroad for a while, supposedly to recover from an illness. When he came back, people said his personality had changed."

Larissa immediately put the pieces together. "You think the real Jedidiah died, don't you? The trip abroad was just a cover story to let Jedidron secretly take his brother's place."

Haskell nodded slightly in agreement. "That's my theory. I just don't have any concrete evidence to prove it yet."

Larissa, however, remained composed. "Don't worry. Now that we have a lead, investigating further will be much easier."

"I agree," Haskell said, then asked, "So, when do you think he'll make his move?"

Larissa considered it. "Based on what we know, his preparations must be nearly complete. Given how unhinged he is, I'd bet he'll strike on New Year's Eve. The chaos would appeal to him."

"My thoughts exactly," Haskell concurred. "Everyone will be celebrating, setting off fireworks. The noise from the explosions would be much less conspicuous."

A cold smirk touched Larissa's lips. "Well, it would be just as explosive if the news of Police Commissioner Jedidiah's arrest broke on New Year's Day."

She then added, "By the way, Lucius Lincoln's sentence came down. Life in prison, no parole."

"It's a date!" she said happily. "Let's plan for it."

Larissa chuckled. "Let them fight. Just make sure they don't damage any of your herbs."

After getting that off his chest, Zendar's tone softened with a hint of nostalgia. "So, Larissa, are you coming back for the New Year?"
