Chapter 239

‘Like a dog whistle”

Sure, just imagine the dog whistle being a hundred times stronger.

I chew on my bottom lip thinking of the three stories I was just told. Two people with extraordinary or rare gifts.

To people that died because of those gifts.

And someone paying people to do it.

What the hell is going on?

At first, I could have sworn that this was some kind of law work plan. Stop our efforts from integrating our people with humans and now I don’t see how well it possibly can be.

The attacks and the people are too thought out.

At any rate,” Felix says, “It was a good call to make sure that Quinnie stays on packed territory.”

I nod absolutely.

“How long do you think it I take to get the information on the other five people?

“Depends on how deep their life is buried.”

“Do you think it’s worth it to keep digging?

“Honesty, yes. Whoever these people are, it’s clear that from planning this move for quite some time now. If you want to put ourselves on

an even playing field we need as much accurate information as we can get.”

“Okay then. We keep going.”

“It might also help if we had some backup.”

Ugh.

He doesn’t have to say her name. I know exactly who he’s thinking of and I’m ashamed that I was thinking of her too.

Hazel has a lot going on right now with her four infants and two toddlers running around.

The reality is though that we need her. We need that brain and that Mac for finding needles in a haystack. We all work better when we’re

together

“Even if I did want to bring her in, how would we do it without the males noticing?”

Why don’t you want them to know?”

“I dont want to tell them what we’re doing until we have something concrete. Something that would be enough information for them to act. Otherwise it’s just going to get their hopes up for nothing.”

Felix smirks. “You mean that? Otherwise, you’re going to spend 90% of your time arguing with them just so you can do it.”

I blow out a frustrated breath. “That too.”

“I’ll help you figure it out.”

I’ll hold you to it.”

Leaving Felix’s den I head out to walk through the pack and check up on any of the elder elder members that might mean you help or just

someone to talk to..

This is my favorite part of the day. The part when I get to connect with every individual on a personal level and I get to know who they

are and what makes them tick.

It’s those small details that make the difference between a good Alpha and a great one and intend to be the best Luna possible.

It’s probably because I took these duties so seriously that I know when those in off smell coming from one of the den’s.

Who then belongs to Rosa elderly chef who recently lost her mates.

Her children have married into different packs so she’s spent the last 8 months relatively alone except for the visits I give her every other

day.

As I walk past her den, I expect to be greeted with the soft fragrance of tiger lilies and pear and instead my nose is assaulted with

something acidic, tangy, wrong.

A quickly joke up the stairs and knock on the door.

“Rose. “knock, knock,” Rose, it’s me, Aria.”

There is no answer so I try again.

And again.

Horrible possibilities start to cross my mind.
