Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 13

Just then, the hospital room door was shoved open from the outside.

When Zander saw Eliza with her eyes open on the bed, a wave of sheer ecstasy flooded his exhausted gaze.

"Eliza! You're awake!"

He closed the distance in long strides, instinctively reaching for her hand resting atop the blanket.

However, before his fingers could even brush against her skin, Eliza recoiled without hesitation, avoiding him like he was the plague.

Zander's hand froze midair.

Seeing the undisguised defensiveness and repulsion in her eyes, he felt as if a blunt object had smashed into his chest, leaving him breathless and aching.

But before he could even utter an apology, Eliza suddenly ripped the IV needle right out of her arm!

"What are you doing?!"

Zander's pupils contracted sharply, his voice spiking in panic.

The sharp needle tore out, dragging a string of crimson droplets that splattered onto the pristine white sheets.

Yet she acted as if she couldn't feel a thing, throwing off the covers to get out of bed.

"Eliza, have you lost your mind?!"

Completely frantic, Zander pinned down her bleeding hand and forcefully pushed her back onto the mattress.

"Do you have any idea what state your leg is in? Do you really want to destroy it completely and spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair?"

He froze, instinctively realizing something was wrong. "That's not what I meant..."

"Then what did you mean?"

Her voice spiked sharply as she glared at the self-righteous man before her, a tragic, chilling smirk curving her lips.

"Your parents matter, their feelings matter, but what about my leg? What about my life! Do I deserve to be trampled under their feet like garbage? Am I not human?"

"Years ago, you abandoned me under a collapsing wall for your fake sister. Now, you want me to beg like a dog to the people who humiliated me, just to protect your parents' pathetic sense of superiority!"

Eliza burst into laughter, laughing so hard that tears spilled from her eyes, though her gaze remained utterly desolate.

"Zander, are you the psycho here, or am I?"
