Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 157

Amy froze.

"A film project... choreography director?"

"Yes, 'Echoes of the Valley'," Eliza replied. "Directed by Lucas Evans, produced by Jane York."

Amy was utterly paralyzed.

She knew exactly what magnitude of project that was. Anything with Director Evans's name attached was an automatic blockbuster event.

Jane York never backed a flop. Half the industry would kill for a chance to even step foot on one of her sets.

"Eliza..." Amy's tone shifted dramatically, replaced by a wave of genuine, burning excitement.

"That... that is incredible!"

"Do you think you could give the studio a little shoutout? I'd be more than happy to pay you for the promotion..."

Eliza offered a polite smile. "I don't think that's appropriate. You know how strict Director Evans is with his crew, let alone allowing blatant advertising."

"I'm going to grab a studio to stretch out for a bit."

With a slight nod to Amy, she turned and headed toward the practice rooms.

Once she rounded the corner and was completely out of sight, she discreetly reached down and massaged her left knee.

It was still aching.

But it didn't matter.

...

Zander retreated into his car, resting his head against the seat and closing his eyes.

He didn't start the engine right away.

After sitting in silence for about two minutes, he pulled out his phone and opened his chat log with Eliza.

The last message was from him. Eliza hadn't replied.

He stared at the screen, his thumb hovering over the keyboard before dropping back down.

What was he supposed to say?

What good would it do anyway?

She had blocked him ages ago. He had only managed to add her back by switching to a new number. She had barely tolerated keeping him on her contact list, but she practically never responded.

Zander dropped his phone into his lap.

His mind drifted back to the words Eliza had thrown at him in the hospital hallway yesterday.

*'I told you once, twice, three times. Did you listen?'*

My God! How did he only realize this today?!

No wonder Eliza was so furious when she caught him interacting with Miles.

He scrambled to play the voice note of Gwen screaming at him, listening to it intently.

*'People like you deserve to get scammed for the rest of your life! A brain is a wonderful thing to have—why don't you book a hospital appointment and check if you actually have one!'*

That was it! He suddenly felt so incredibly stupid! Only now was he picking up on Gwen's hidden message.

Gwen had been warning him that Eliza was lying to him! She was just doing it to keep him away from Miles!

He grabbed his phone, fired up the engine, and shot a final glance at the imposing gates of the Roth Estate through his rearview mirror.

Then he whipped the car around and sped off in the direction of Eliza's apartment.

...

Yvonne stared at her phone screen, scrolling through an industry networking group.

It was a private, inner-circle chat for film professionals—something Yvonne had paid a hefty price to slip into.

Someone had just pinged the chat with a casting call.

"The first round of auditions for the stunt double in 'Fragrant Moon' is this Friday. Anyone matching the physical profile can apply. Lead actress is 5'5", narrow shoulders, 0.67 waist-to-hip ratio."
