Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 55

The moment the thought crossed her mind, Eliza's heart turned cold.

She had finally woken up and refused to have any more ties with him.

No matter how tempting the job was, if Zander was behind it, she would reject it without hesitation.

She would rather remain a nobody forever than accept his patronizing charity.

With that in mind, she pulled out her phone and dialed Zander's number.

He picked up almost instantly.

"Eliza?" Zander's voice was filled with unrestrained surprise and excitement.

"You finally called me."

Eliza cut straight to the point, her tone flat.

"Where are you?"

"I'm at home, I took the day off," Zander's tone instantly softened.

"It's pouring outside. Are you off work? Wait there, I'll come pick you up."

His eager, fawning attitude only annoyed her.

She cut him off. "No need. I just wanted to ask you, what do you think about my recent work?"

She wanted to test the waters first.

Zander clearly hesitated on the other end.

He seemed puzzled by the question.

But after a pause, his tone turned entirely dismissive.

"Eliza, I saw your dance video. You danced well. But you're not a kid anymore, and your leg hasn't fully healed. You shouldn't be out showing your face in public like that."

His voice carried his usual self-righteous arrogance.

"Listen to me, quit that job at the center and stop posting things online. Just stay at home comfortably, and I'll take care of you. Doesn't that sound nice?"

Hearing this, the tension in Eliza's chest instantly dissipated.

It seemed he really had nothing to do with this; she had been overthinking it.

"What's up? Coming to pick me up?" she teased.

"Eliza! Look at the trending topics. You're up there again. Girl, you're going to be rich."

"I'm applying to be your manager right now."

Gwen's excited voice threatened to burst through the speaker.

Infected by her joy, Eliza laughed, "Alright, alright, Madam Manager."

"Oh, right, let me tell you some mind-blowing gossip!" Gwen suddenly lowered her voice dramatically.

"What is it?"

"I had lunch with my brother today, and guess whose name I heard?"

"Who?"

"Julian. Our Julian." Gwen's tone was filled with disbelief.

"I just found out today that he isn't some ordinary doctor. He's the sole heir to The Lawrence Group. The insanely wealthy Lawrence family."
