Let Them Kneel (kaelani and Julian) novel Chapter 214

“It was either that. His voice caught, and when he spoke again, it was darker still gentle, but edged with truth. Or i marked you back.”

Julian’s hand slid to her waist, holding her like his knot wasn’t enough to keep her kom slipping away.

“My wolf needed one,” he murmured. “One or the other. I had to satisfy him or he would’ve taken both.”

Julian swallowed, eyes closing for half a second shame and restraint fighting the satisfaction still trembling through him

“I’m sorry,” he said quietly. “I couldn’t fight it.”

His eyes opened again, and they were brimming with tenderness.

“Because if I marked you back,” he continued, voice low, careful, “that seals it. It seals the bond.”

Kaelani stared at him, dazed. “You… you don’t want that?”

Julian let out a breath that sounded almost like a laugh, broken and disbelieving.

“Of course I do,” he said immediately. “Gods, Kaelani-of course I do.”

His forehead dropped to hers, the words turning softer.

“I just wanted to move at your pace.” His voice roughened. “On your time. I don’t want to do anything you don’t want me to.”

Kaelani swallowed, her throat tight.

“I feel… overwhelmed right now,” she admitted, the honesty slipping out before she could stop it. “By the bond. By… by whether I can… trust it.”

Kaelani’s lashes fluttered. Her voice dropped, small but real.

“All I want right now is for us to be close.” Her fingers curled into his shoulders, holding on. “To fill this emptiness that still sits between us.”

Julian’s expression tightened with something fierce and pained.

“That emptiness,” he explained, “is our bond not being sealed.”

Kaelani blinked, breath catching, like the truth of it hit somewhere she didn’t have defenses.

“I can’t stand it,” she whispered.

Julian’s mouth brushed hers-barely a kiss. A promise. “Neither can I.”

“I’m scared,” she admitted.

“What if…?” Kaelani didn’t finish.

She didn’t have to.

Julian’s voice dropped, quiet and deadly accurate. “What if I leave again.”

Kaelani’s lips parted

No answer came.

The silence did.

Julian looked at her like the fear in her was something he could physically feel beneath his skin — like it hurt him to know he’d put it there.

His hand slid into her hair, gentle. Grounding.

“Kaelani,” he said, voice trembling at the edges. “I wan! you forever.”

Her eves glistened.

Julian didn’t look away.
