Vivian’s face had already been pale.
At Marianne’s words, every last trace of color drained from it.
She stared at the older woman in disbelief.
No longer part of the Redson family?
What did that mean?
Was Marianne threatening to make her divorce Leon’s father?
After all these years, had she still not given up on driving Vivian out of the family?
“Mom, you…” Vivian choked out.
She could hardly believe it.
She had devoted so many years to the Redson family, yet Marianne had never truly accepted her.
For Marianne to say something like that, she must never have regarded Vivian as part of the family at all.
Vivian had given her husband three children.
And still…
“I told you years ago that you weren’t suited to be the lady of this family,” Marianne said. “You promised you would behave and listen.”
“What you’ve done this time has deeply disappointed me.”
Vivian’s heart turned cold at the word disappointed.
But she did not dare argue.
All she could do was lower her head and agree.
“I’m sorry. I never expected things to turn out this way.”
She truly had not imagined the situation would spiral this far.
“Lia is your own daughter.”
Marianne’s voice sharpened on the words own daughter.
Vivian had sacrificed her own child to protect an outsider.
That was what disappointed Marianne most.
Vivian’s face grew even paler.
“Stay out of this from now on,” Marianne said. “My people will handle it.”
Judging by Vivian’s performance, Marianne no longer trusted her to resolve anything properly.
She was removing the matter from Vivian’s hands entirely.
“Mom, please give me one more chance. I…”
“You were already willing to sacrifice yourself. Why would I give you another chance?”
Marianne cut her off sharply.
Vivian fell silent.
“Idiot.”
Marianne made no attempt to hide either her disgust or her contempt for Vivian’s abilities.
If Marianne now decided to accept that woman, it would be unbelievable.
…
Once Wilson and Marianne took control, the situation was resolved quickly.
Stella finally got the outcome she wanted.
News spread that Monique had schemed against the woman Leon loved because she wanted to marry into the Redson family.
That woman had even been pregnant before being forced out of Harbor City.
The revelation completely destroyed Monique’s reputation.
The entire city erupted.
Far away in Sevi Valley, Stella smiled when she saw the result.
Leon called her.
“Are you satisfied now, Ms. Rowan?”
Every word came through clenched teeth.
People throughout Harbor City were tearing Monique apart.
Naturally, Leon was furious.
“Keep it up for a full week,” Stella said.
“What do you mean?” Leon demanded. “You said you would release her as soon as you got the result you wanted.”
