Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 1021

Evan stood behind her, momentarily stunned by what she said.

That heartless woman.

He had barely returned, and she was already saying his death had caused her no pain at all.

Had she truly not grieved for him even once?

Remi’s reports over the past month had never mentioned Stella losing her appetite or sleep over his death.

Evan could not decide whether he should feel relieved or furious.

He had spent every day thinking about her, unable to eat or sleep properly.

Stella placed the final bouquet beside the headstone.

She adjusted the flowers, then reached for the bottle of whiskey she had brought with her.

It was Evan’s favorite.

She unscrewed the cap and was about to pour some onto the ground when a familiar voice spoke behind her.

“Careful. That’s expensive whiskey.”

Stella froze.

A chill raced across her scalp, and her entire body went rigid.

She instinctively looked up at the smiling photograph on Evan’s headstone.

At that moment, his smile looked downright terrifying.

For one horrifying second, she thought she had heard a ghost.

The bottle slipped from her hand and shattered against the ground.

Before she could react, Evan wrapped his arms around her from behind.

Stella had already been frozen stiff.

The moment he touched her, every nerve in her body seemed to go numb.

She was not the type to scream easily, which was the only reason she did not cry out.

Then she felt the warmth of his body.

This was not a ghost.

It was Evan.

That familiar presence.

That familiar warmth.

That familiar shamelessness.

“You sounded so heartless just now,” Evan murmured. “Yet you brought me flowers and my favorite whiskey. What, were you worried I’d be lonely without you?”

He felt unmistakably alive.

Stella tried to turn around, but Evan lowered his head and pressed his lips against the side of her neck.

The kiss stopped abruptly.

“Are you awake now?” she demanded.

Her voice was filled with fury, and the corners of her eyes had turned red.

Evan touched his cheek.

“You’ve gotten pretty fierce.”

Stella glared at him.

Then she slapped him again.

Fierce?

He spoke as though this were the first time he had seen that side of her.

Had she not been just as fierce back in Harbor City?

Perhaps she had once been gentle.

Before they pushed her beyond her limits, she truly had been.

She looked gentle, and she had treated him gently too.

No matter how accomplished she was outside their home, she had always been soft with Evan.

Unfortunately, he had destroyed that tenderness with his own hands.
