Alive?
Neither Stella nor Evan had been far from death lately.
That was something Stella had never imagined experiencing.
But living with the possibility that her life could end at any moment had taught her just how precious it was to feel truly alive.
She moved to a seat on the other side of the helicopter and turned away from Evan.
She fell completely silent.
No one could tell what she was thinking.
Evan did not press her.
Once Remi and Seymour boarded, he ordered the helicopter to leave.
During Stella’s time in Sevi Valley, Evan had tried to make her as comfortable as possible.
But the conditions there were limited.
Fortunately, Stella was not delicate. She had endured the hardship without once complaining about her surroundings.
…
The moment Evan left Seaborne, Felix finally uncovered the identity of the mysterious force that had appeared there.
It was Evan Wright.
Evan was alive.
The instant Felix saw the report confirming it, his expression darkened completely.
Jack stood beside him, barely daring to breathe.
He could not believe the result either.
“Evan Wright is actually alive.”
Felix said nothing.
Alive.
No wonder Litt had been caught completely off guard.
Evan had struck from a direction no one had anticipated.
Everyone had believed he was dead.
Meanwhile, he had remained hidden, recovering his strength and waiting for the right opportunity.
And in the end, his patience had given him exactly what he wanted.
Felix slowly clenched both hands into fists.
“Evan went to pick up Miss Rowan,” Jack added.
Felix’s already grim expression turned even colder.
Evan being alive was bad enough.
Now he had gone straight to Stella.
The very thought filled Felix with fury.
Everyone knew how capable the two of them were under Amos.
The failure to locate Stella was not entirely due to incompetence.
Felix turned a freezing gaze on Jack, clearly displeased that he was making excuses for them.
Jack immediately lowered his head.
“I’ll take care of it.”
He did not dare say anything more.
Perhaps Felix was right.
They had searched too many places lately and likely had not examined Sevi Valley carefully enough.
They deserved to be disciplined.
Jack left the room.
Once Felix was alone, he lit a cigar and took a long, harsh drag.
Smoke curled around him, making the danger surrounding him feel even more oppressive.
“Sevi Valley.”
He repeated the words slowly, his jaw clenched so tightly it ached.
He had never expected Evan to hide Stella there.
Evan Wright.
