Ivy looked at Stella and sighed again.
“What a mess this has become.”
She truly did not know what else to say.
“What are you going to do now?” Ivy asked.
She suddenly felt sorry for Stella.
Stella had never received anyone’s complete love.
No.
More accurately, none of the people who claimed to love her had ever truly done so.
When someone genuinely loved another person, they would never sacrifice them.
Not easily.
Not ever.
That was how it had always been between Ivy and Amos.
Over the years, Aaron had tempted Amos again and again, offering him countless benefits in exchange for giving Ivy back.
But Amos had never once considered it.
Even when it meant remaining trapped in Seaborne, he had never wavered.
But Stella…
Evan claimed to love her, yet she had been torn apart by the entire Wright family in Harbor City.
Felix had once protected her with such sincerity, only to betray her in the end.
Even her own brother had treated her as expendable.
Ivy could not help feeling sorry for her.
“What can I do?” Stella replied. “One day, I’ll tear every last one of them apart.”
Her voice was cold and ruthless.
She might be in Seaborne now, but that did not mean she was helpless.
Other people might abandon her.
She would never abandon herself.
That was why her plans had never stopped, whether she was in Sevi Valley or Seaborne.
In Stella’s world, no one else could be relied upon.
The only person she could truly depend on was herself.
Ivy’s heart skipped a beat at the severity of her words.
But then she realized it was only natural.
After everything Stella had endured, this was the most understandable response she could have had.
Stella looked at Ivy.
“I envy you a little.”
Ivy blinked.
“What?”
“Amos has never given up on you.”
…
The sun was blazing by the time Stella finally returned to the villa with Ivy.
The moment Evan saw her, he stepped forward and pulled her into his arms.
Ivy took one look at them and quickly went to find Amos.
That left Stella and Evan alone in the vast living room.
Evan held her silently.
For once, Stella did not struggle.
She simply waited for him to speak.
His silence was likely a reflection of the battle taking place inside him.
After a long while, Evan finally spoke.
“You don’t need to worry.”
Stella raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
“I never intended to exchange you for Yara.”
Stella closed her eyes.
She still did not respond.
Never intended to?
Perhaps not yet.
But if he was already struggling this badly, how could he claim the thought had never crossed his mind?
