And in the process, Monique had driven away the woman Leon actually loved.
The thought alone made his blood boil.
“What am I supposed to do now? I can’t find her anywhere.”
Even if he had completely cut ties with Monique now, finding Jennifer still wouldn’t be easy.
Evan said, “Can’t you really just let her go?”
“Come on, you’re asking me to die here.”
Let Jennifer go?
Like hell he could.
He had been miserable enough these past few weeks. Right now, all he wanted was to find her.
But he had already tried everything.
“If she doesn’t want to be found, it’s going to be difficult,” Evan said.
After all this time without a single lead, it was obvious Jennifer had been deliberately hiding from Leon.
And Evan couldn’t forget one thing.
Jennifer had also been the one who was chosen and abandoned.
Chosen and abandoned.
The thought made Evan’s chest tighten again.
Wasn’t he being forced to choose between Stella and the Wright family all over again?
The decision was suffocating him.
“Enough. I have to go.”
Evan didn’t say anything else before hanging up.
Leon clearly heard the pain in his voice, but before he could ask what was wrong, the call had already ended.
He stared at his phone for a moment as the disconnected tone sounded in his ear.
He knew Evan had plenty on his mind right now.
But Leon was about to explode too.
“Where the hell did that damn woman go?”
He had searched everywhere he could possibly think of.
Yet no matter what he tried, he couldn’t drag Jennifer out of hiding.
The frustration was driving him insane.
...
Back in Seaborne, after Amos left, Evan became completely trapped in his own thoughts.
Sid came in.
“Sir.”
