The more Yara thought about it, the more going back to Eirden felt like something she had no choice but to do.
Yes, she had paid an enormous price to escape that place.
But it was precisely because of that price that she now felt she owed the Hogarth family an impossible debt.
Her chest ached.
It felt tight and heavy.
Evan had been in terrible shape these past few days, and Amos had been keeping an eye on him.
Early the next morning, Amos came by the villa again.
Evan was still asleep.
He had drunk so much the night before that he probably still wasn’t fully sober.
But Amos found Yara packing.
His brows immediately drew together.
“You’re leaving?”
He glanced at the small bag beside her.
It wasn’t much luggage, but it was obvious she really intended to go somewhere.
Yara nodded.
“Yeah.”
“Where?”
Right now, leaving Seaborne wasn’t exactly safe for Yara.
Aaron was still watching her.
A lot had happened lately, but when Aaron lost control, he went all the way.
After Stella’s death, he seemed to hate the entire Wright family.
Both Evan and Yara were clearly still under his watch.
And no one even knew whether the Wright family members he was holding were alive or dead.
For Yara, leaving Seaborne now was a terrible idea.
At this point, Seaborne seemed to be the only place where she and Evan were relatively safe.
Yara said quietly, “Eirden.”
Amos stared at her.
“What?”
Then he looked at her again as if he had misheard.
“Wait. Where did you say you’re going?”
Was she out of her mind?
Of all places, she wanted to go back to Eirden?
Before Yara could answer, Amos continued,
