Evan finally woke up.
The moment he found out Yara planned to go to Eirden and trade herself for the Wright family, his face turned livid.
“You’re not going.”
Even if the entire Wright family was still in Aaron’s hands, Evan refused to let Yara exchange herself for them.
He knew exactly what Aaron wanted.
If Yara went back now, there was no telling what she would suffer.
Ivy sat on the couch nearby, listening to how firmly Evan spoke.
She couldn’t help clicking her tongue.
“Wow. Sure is different when it’s your own family.”
Evan and Yara both went silent.
Amos glanced at Ivy, already feeling a headache coming on.
Ivy continued, “Back when you wanted Stella to trade herself for the Wright family, you kept saying you could guarantee her safety.”
“So why not do the same thing now? Send your own sister in and guarantee her safety while you get the Wright family back.”
Back then, when it had been Stella, Evan hadn’t hesitated to push her forward as the bargaining chip.
He had even insisted he could keep her safe.
But seriously, who could guarantee anyone’s safety after sending them into an unstable, dangerous situation?
For the sake of the Wright family, Evan had forced Stella into it anyway.
Now that it was his own sister who had to be sacrificed, look how firm he suddenly was.
Evan looked at Ivy, his chest tightening.
Ivy raised her brows.
“Why are you looking at me like that? I’m telling the truth. Or is your own flesh and blood simply worth more than Stella’s life?”
He had been so willing to make the trade before.
So why not make it now?
“Relax. Aaron went through all this trouble to force Yara back. He obviously isn’t trying to kill her.”
Ivy simply threw every argument Evan had once used about Stella right back in his face.
Evan said nothing.
His face turned even paler.
Everything he had said to Stella near the end had already been tormenting him every waking moment.
Now, hearing Ivy repeat those same arguments back to him made the pressure in his chest almost unbearable.
Yara frowned.
“Can you stop?”
