Half an hour later, Aaron arrived.
His gaze fell on the fruit knife Yara was holding against her throat, and his expression turned dark.
“Put it down.”
Just three words, delivered as a cold command.
Yara tightened her grip on the knife.
“I only have two questions!”
Aaron narrowed his eyes.
“I said, put it down.”
This time, every word carried a dangerous edge.
The pressure in his voice was almost suffocating.
Yara’s hand jerked.
The blade nicked her neck, and a thin line of blood trickled down her skin.
The sight of that bright red made the housekeeper behind Aaron cover her mouth in alarm.
Aaron’s already dangerous gaze turned even darker.
The air around him seemed to freeze.
Feeling the menace radiating from him, Yara instinctively pressed the knife harder against her neck.
She was afraid of him.
Terrified.
Especially when he went silent like this.
The way he looked at her made her feel as though he might devour her whole.
“I... I just want to ask two questions.”
Under the weight of his presence, even her words started coming out unevenly.
But she had to ask.
Aaron stared at her.
“Ask.”
One word.
Still dangerously cold.
But at least he had finally agreed.
Yara swallowed hard.
“Is Evan in Mieda?”
“Yes.”
Her fingers trembled.
“Is he still alive?”
Her voice shook noticeably this time, tears already gathering in her eyes.
Aaron looked at her coldly and said nothing.
And it was that silence that sent panic crashing through Yara.
She sniffed back tears.
“Did you kill him?”
The moment she asked, the tears spilled over.
Aaron wasn’t someone who lied.
