At the word “businessman,” a cold glint flashed through Evan’s eyes.
“Businessman?”
He let out a bitter laugh.
That word couldn’t have sounded more ironic to him.
“What does the Wright family even have left? Your sister tore everything apart!”
Back in Harbor City, Felix and Aaron had both stood behind Stella.
She wanted revenge, so they helped her dismantle the Wright family piece by piece.
The family business had been devastated.
And now so many members of the family were dead too.
Yet Aaron was standing here telling him he was better suited to being a businessman?
What kind of joke was that?
And at the mention of Stella...
No one knew what Evan truly felt for her anymore.
Anger.
Despair.
Hatred.
Yes.
More than anything, hatred.
A hatred so intense it was almost destroying him from the inside.
Because Stella was gone.
She had died and left him with nowhere to direct that hatred.
The Wright family had ended up like this because of her.
She had called them her enemies.
Enemies.
What a joke all of that seemed now.
Thinking about everything Stella had done in Harbor City, Evan raised his gun at Aaron again.
“Then you can pay your sister’s debt for her.”
“No!”
Yara’s heart leaped into her throat.
Aaron’s eyes turned icy.
Just as Evan was about to pull the trigger, a gunshot exploded through the room.
Then came the sickening sound of a bullet tearing through flesh.
“No!”
Yara’s scream ripped through the study.
Everything descended into chaos.
The smell of gunpowder, scorched air, and blood flooded the room.
Evan’s pupils contracted.
All the strength drained from his hand.
His gun hit the floor with a thud.
