Chaos.
Suddenly, Stella felt as though her entire world had become a mess.
So tangled that she could no longer tell what was right, what was wrong, or what any of it meant anymore.
Felix grabbed her hand tightly.
“Don’t say any more.”
“I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do anymore.”
She had faked her death because she wanted to fight for a little peace of her own.
But now even that peace had been thrown into chaos.
“Stop thinking about it,” Felix said.
Stella shook her head.
“How did my life end up like this? Back then, all that evidence clearly pointed to…”
At the mention of the evidence, Stella suddenly looked at Felix.
Their eyes met.
And in that instant, something seemed to occur to her.
She abruptly pulled her hand out of his.
Felix went still.
The air between them suddenly became frighteningly quiet.
“Felix.”
He said nothing.
“When we were investigating everything back then, Jack…”
Jack what?
Stella didn’t finish the sentence.
But the silence between them only grew colder.
Neither of them spoke.
They simply stared at each other.
Stella’s breathing gradually became faster.
Felix’s expression darkened.
“You think I tampered with the evidence?”
Stella didn’t answer.
But the look in her eyes grew colder by the second.
“Stella.”
“Did you have anything to do with it?”
This time, she asked him directly.
Felix stared at her.
“You suspect me?”
“Felix, too much has happened since we left Harbor City.”
Far too much.
So much that he couldn’t exactly blame her for becoming suspicious.
There had simply been too many things.
