Chapter 1221

Stella’s heart had already been pounding when Jennifer suddenly called.

Now it was racing even harder.

Her breath caught.

“What happened?”

“I don’t know exactly how he found out, but he’s sending people to look for you now.”

Stella went still.

Sending people to find her.

So Evan knew.

“Be careful,” Jennifer warned. “Evan hates you now. Apparently, your mother’s death might not have had anything to do with the Wright family after all.”

The whole thing was such a mess.

After all these years, who had really been responsible and who hadn’t?

But Aaron had wiped out so many members of the Wright family in a fit of rage.

Evan was bound to put all of that on Stella.

After all, everything had started with her.

“Evan is crazy. If he finds you, there’s no way he’ll let this go. And you know how much his family has always meant to him.”

The Wright family might not have been good people.

But good or bad, they were still Evan’s family.

Even before, when Stella had every reason to hate them, Evan had almost always sided with his family.

And now that he believed they hadn’t been responsible for her mother’s death at all?

Wouldn’t it be his turn to take revenge?

Jennifer felt numb just thinking about all the twists and turns.

Stella drew a slow breath.

Her mind was completely scrambled.

She instinctively looked at Remi.

But almost immediately, she dismissed the thought.

It couldn’t have been Remi.

Remi might have been one of Amos’s people, but if she were helping Evan, he would have known about Stella being near Sima Mountain a long time ago.

So how had news that she was still alive gotten out?

“Stella? Stella?”

“I’m listening.”

Jennifer’s voice pulled her back to the present.

“Just be careful, okay? Evan really is crazy. If he finds you this time, I honestly think he might kill you.”

Whatever Evan had once felt for Stella no longer mattered.

If he found her now, nothing good would come of it.

Stella gave a faint laugh.

“Kill me?”

No one knew how much she had suffered these past few months.

Ever since learning that Dora might not have been directly responsible for her mother’s death, Stella had been tormenting herself too.

“If he wants my life, he can have it.”

She was truly tired of living like this.

Jennifer’s heart lurched at the emptiness in her voice.

“Stella, you…”

“Thank you, Jenn.”

Stella’s voice was weak and drained.

It hadn’t actually been that long since she left Harbor City.

Yet somehow, all the life seemed to have gone out of her.

Summer was dead.

Dora was dead.

Fiona was dead too.

Everyone she had once hated most was gone.

But was Stella happy?

After everything between her and Evan had deteriorated to this point, was she happy?

No.

Chapter 1221

Life was strange.

Every stage seemed to come with a different kind of misery.

She had once thought leaving Harbor City would mean stepping into a whole new world.

Instead, she had only walked into a different nightmare.

“Stella…”
