Chapter 1274

Just before Felix’s hand could touch hers, he stopped.

His hand froze in midair.

Stella looked at him but said nothing.

“Sorry,” Felix said. “Old habit.”

He awkwardly pulled his hand back.

Stella watched the cautious look in his eyes and remained silent.

Her gaze was unreadable. No one could tell what she was thinking.

But at least this time, there was none of the disgust or resistance she used to show whenever she looked at him.

Felix noticed the subtle change too.

“I had Jack book a restaurant that serves the kind of food you like. Let’s go try it.”

“Okay.”

A smile appeared on Felix’s lips.

Warm sunlight streamed through the window.

For once, the two of them sitting there together looked almost peaceful.

At the restaurant, Felix carefully placed some of Stella’s favorite dishes onto the small plate in front of her.

“Thanks,” Stella said.

Unlike back at Sima Mountain, she didn’t immediately push aside everything he served her.

The smile never left Felix’s face.

Neither of them seemed particularly affected by Evan’s call earlier.

Stella had only taken a few bites when her phone rang again.

Aaron.

She glanced at the screen and ignored it.

Then she simply turned her phone face down on the table.

Michael had already told her she didn’t have to accept Aaron as her brother if she didn’t want to.

If she didn’t even have to acknowledge him, then not answering his calls was perfectly reasonable.

Felix noticed the little gesture and smiled.

“Sounds like Yara was hurt pretty badly this time.”

Considering she had nearly been killed, that was hardly surprising.

Otherwise, Aaron and Evan wouldn’t both be so anxious.

“She brought it on herself,” Stella said flatly.

Those words made one thing very clear.

Stella no longer accepted the idea that her retaliation against the Wright family had been some terrible mistake.

Felix quietly let out a breath of relief.

No one knew what had worried him most after he returned to Harbor City.

He had been afraid that Stella’s guilt over what happened to the Wright family would somehow pull her back into Evan’s life again.

“There’s something else I should tell you,” Felix said after a moment.

Stella looked at him.

“What?”

“Ruby is dead.”

Stella froze.

Her gaze stiffened as she looked at Felix.

Ruby…

It had been a long time since Stella had seriously thought about that name.

No matter how awkward Stella’s position had sometimes felt after returning to Eirden, one thing was

undeniable.

Aaron had shown absolutely no mercy to the people who had hurt her back in Harbor City.

Evan.

Ruby.

Ruby had been cornered from every direction.

All of her overseas projects had been hit, leaving her with nowhere to turn and no way out.

She had tried countless ways to save herself, but every single one had been shut down.

Everyone knew how resourceful that woman could be.

So hearing that she was actually dead still came as a surprise.

“She suffered quite a bit before she died,” Felix added.
