Chapter 266
She had never cared much for jewelry.
Aaron said, “It’s for your future sister-in-law.”
Stella paused.
Future sister-in-law?
She vaguely remembered hearing that Aaron had been pursuing a woman recently.
Then again, he was the heir to Hogarth Group.
Of course the way he wooed a woman involved something worth hundreds of millions.
“When is it?” Stella asked.
“Three days from now. You’ll go with Felix.”
“I can go by myself,” Stella muttered, a little annoyed.
Back when she was still with Evan, he had taken her to plenty of auctions.
So it was just an auction.
Why did Felix need to go with her?
Aaron said, “I already told him. Something that valuable shouldn’t be handled carelessly.”
Stella fell silent.
That valuable?
Was he seriously worried she might get robbed?
That seemed a little excessive.
But before she could say anything else, Aaron hung up.
Stella stared at her phone.
Wait, what?
Was he actually worried she’d get mugged?

When Jennifer heard Stella was back at Mount Pansworth, she came over that evening as soon as she got off
work.
She was still wearing a fitted little business suit when she arrived.
“Have you eaten?” Stella asked.
Jennifer said, “I grabbed a few bites on the way. Have them make me some food.”
After a full day at work, it felt like every last calorie in her body had been burned off.

She was starving.
That was what happened when you used your brain too much at work.
You got hungry fast.
Stella immediately told the staff to make her a bowl of noodles.
Jennifer quickly washed up, then changed into the pajamas Stella had given her.
Over the years in Harbor City, the two of them had never really stood on ceremony with each other.
Back when Stella used to fight with Evan and run to Jennifer’s place, she often would not even bring luggage.
She would just wear Jennifer’s clothes.
Once the noodles were ready, Jennifer took a huge bite, then drank some soup before asking, “You know Summer’s child died, right?”
Stella looked at her. “You don’t suspect me again, do you?”
The day before, when Summer’s baby had been kidnapped, Jennifer had called to ask whether it had anything to do with her.
Really, she had only been worried.
No matter how badly Stella wanted to divorce Evan, there was no reason for her to do something that
extreme.
Now, remembering what Stella had said yesterday, Jennifer replied bluntly, “I’m not blind. I’m just asking whether you know about it.”
When it came to Stella, Jennifer trusted her completely.
She really was starving.
Three quick bites in, half the sandwich was already gone.
Stella stared at her. “Did you not eat all day?”
“Pretty much. I skipped lunch. I was swamped.”
Stella went quiet.
She had been busy before too, but never so busy she skipped meals.
Jennifer looked up. “So do you know or not?”

Stella gave a dry laugh. “With something this big, how could I not know? Whenever anything happens to the Wright family, it gets pinned on me.”
Jennifer nodded. “Fair point.”
For the past two years, anytime anything went wrong in the Wright family, the first question was always whether Stella had done it.
