Chapter 338

Not just hard to calm

Stella was completely out of control now.

Seeing Evan’s silence, Lucas knew immediately it was about her.

He couldn’t help himself. “Honestly? You had this coming.”

That did it.

Evan shot him a look so cold it could cut.

Lucas shrugged. “What have you all been doing lately? And Summer’s kid… you still think Stella did that?”

“I was drunk that night, sure. But I’m sober now. If you still believe it was her, then I really don’t know what to say to you.”

Evan’s voice dropped.

“This is bigger than the kid now.

Lucas snorted. “Yeah, I figured. It’s not you going after her anymore. She’s the one coming after you, right?”

Evan didn’t answer.

But that silence said enough.

Because it was true.

Right now, Stella wasn’t being targeted-

she was the one tearing the Wright family apart.

The elevator doors opened.

Evan stepped in. Lucas followed.

“So what is she doing exactly?” Lucas asked casually.

r

Evan glanced at him. “Has the old man worked you to the point you don’t even check the news?”

With everything blowing up across the city-

and he didn’t know?

Lucas let out a breath. “I’ve been swamped. He’s pushing me to take over the company. Wants to retire early.”

He grimaced. “If it were up to me, I’d never take it. Look at you. No life, no time, no dating.”

They stepped out of the building.

Right then, Warner walked back in.

Their eyes met-

and Lucas’s expression softened instantly

But Warner-

the moment she saw him standing with Evan-

she gave a quiet, dismissive huff and turned her face away.

Evan didn’t notice.

But Lucas definitely did.

This girl…

As Evan walked ahead, Lucas lingered just long enough to shoot her a few looks.

She ignored him completely.

Head tilted, attitude loud and clear.

He sighed and followed Evan out.

Evan got into his car.

Lucas instinctively moved to follow-

“Where do you think you’re going?” Evan snapped. “I’m going home.”

Lucas blinked. “Wait, you’re actually going home?”

That was new.

Evan’s jaw tightened.

“She moved back to the main estate.”

Lucas froze.

Stella… went back?

Then it clicked instantly.

No wonder Evan looked like he was about to explode.

With her current state-

she wasn’t walking into that house to be bullied.

She was going to turn the entire place into a battlefield.,

“Yeah… I’m not going,” Lucas said immediately, taking a step back.

He wasn’t stupid.

Right now, the Wright estate was basically Stella’s war zone.

Anyone who stepped in-

was just collateral damage.

Evan’s car sped off without another word.

Lucas stood there for a second.

“…Damn.’

That fast?

Things must be bad.

He didn’t leave right away.

Instead, he turned back into the building and pulled out his phone.

The call connected.

“What do you want?” came Warner’s voice.

Lucas leaned against the wall, tone instantly softer.

“Hey, sweetheart. I brought you a gift from my trip. You coming down to get it, or should I bring it up?”

There was a pause on the other end.

“…You were just with my boss, right?” she said flatly. “You can keep your gift.”

Lucas’s brow twitched.

“Wait-what does that even mean?”

What was that supposed to mean?

Why was being seen with Evan suddenly a dealbreaker?
