Chapter 340
To put it bluntly-
he was telling her she had crossed a line.
But after years of marriage, there was no way Stella wouldn’t catch the implication.
She let out a cold laugh.
“I’d let my people cook for you,” she said lightly. “But would you dare eat it?”
Evan froze.
Something in his chest sank instantly.
Their eyes met-
hers full of quiet amusement,
his cold and heavy.
His voice dropped, dark and restrained. “Tell me. Why did you come back?”
It had only been one day-
and the entire Wright household was already in chaos.
His patience was gone.
The pressure from the company was already suffocating him. Now his home was a battlefield too.
Every bit of restraint he had left-
was turning into anger.
Stella’s smile faded, inch by inch.
Evan’s temper snapped.
す
“You don’t want a divorce anymore, is that it? Fine. Then come back to Mount Lara with me.”
Stella didn’t even blink.
“Mount Lara isn’t the Wright estate.”
Evan’s eyes narrowed. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means,” she said calmly, “I’m your legal wife. I’m part of the Wright family. So I get to choose to live at the main estate, don’t I?”
Evan went silent.
Stella continued, her tone almost mocking-
“Didn’t they always want me back here? Outside of holidays, they used to call me all the time while you were at work, asking me to come over.”

She tilted her head slightly.
“So what? Now that I’m back, they’re unhappy? That doesn’t make sense.”
“They wanted me here to ‘serve’ them, right?”
“Well, here I am. I moved in.”
The word ‘serve’ hit like a slap.
Evan took a hard drag from his cigarette.
“When have you ever been this obedient?”
Before-
there had been plenty of demands.
His mother had once insisted Stella come back every day to cook lunch.
And what did she do?
Ignored it completely.
Didn’t even bother pretending.
Back then, everyone said a woman like her marrying into the Wright family would be easy to control.
Dora certainly thought so.
But Stella had never played along.
“So why now?” Evan pressed. “You never listened before.”
Stella gave a small shrug.
“Because now I feel like it.”
Then she let out a soft, almost exaggerated sigh.
す
“Being a daughter-in-law is exhausting. When I didn’t listen, you were unhappy. Now that I ‘do’ listen, you’re still unhappy.”
“Hard to please, aren’t you?”
Evan: “…”
At that moment-
the front door burst open.
Dora, Fiona, and Summer rushed in.
And the first thing they heard-

was that line.
‘Hard to please.’.
Dora nearly blacked out from anger.
Her hand trembled as she pointed at Stella.
“I’m hard to please? You call this serving me?!”
Her voice shook with rage.
“What exactly have you done to us today? And you still have the nerve to call it service?”
Stella didn’t even flinch.
“I brought a whole team back to serve you. Isn’t that sincere enough?”
Silence.
“”
Fiona: “.
Summer: “…”
Evan: “…”
Stella continued, her tone sharpening.
