Chapter 394
When it came to how small Yara’s place was, Fiona could not help complaining.
“Mom, what were you thinking all these years? Is Yara even your real daughter?”
Dora snapped, “What nonsense are you talking about?”
What did she mean, was Yara her real daughter?
“If she’s your real daughter, then why have you treated her so badly all these years? I never saw you give her much allowance.”
To be fair, Yara had never had much status in the Wright family.
Dora rarely gave her spending money.
And Yara rarely asked the family for money either. Especially after she graduated, she had basically stopped taking anything from home.
If the family did not give it to her, she did not ask.
Dora said, “Do you think I didn’t want to give it to her? She never asked me for anything. Unlike comes to me for money whenever you feel like it.”
you,
who
Fiona fell silent.
What was that supposed to mean?
“Honestly, if you’d bought Yara a bigger place earlier, we wouldn’t be stuck with nowhere to go now.”
“And I really don’t know what Yara saw in Stella. In the entire Wright family, she’s the only one who got along with her.”
Fiona truly could not understand that.
Dora glanced at her but said nothing.
Then she asked, “Do you think Stella really hates me that much?”

Fiona asked, “What do you mean?”
“Didn’t you notice? Her attitude changed all of a sudden.”
Fiona froze.
Changed all of a sudden?
Dora said, “Before, she couldn’t stand my temper, so she kept making a fuss about divorce, didn’t she? But now she refuses to divorce and has come back to take revenge on me. Is it really only because I treated her badly before?”
Fiona’s expression shifted.
Hearing Dora say that, Fiona froze.

That was true.
Before, when Stella could not stand the Wright family atrymore, she had kept demanding a divorce.
And now that Evan had finally agreed to divorce her…
She had suddenly said she would not divorce him anymore.
Fiona said, “Could it be that she never actually wanted to leave the Wright family?”
“Does this look like the attitude of someone who sincerely wants to stay?” Dora snapped.
If Stella was truly unwilling to leave the Wright family because of her feelings for Evan, then this was not how she would act.
Fiona said, “So she really is taking revenge on us.”
“Just because I treated her badly before?”
Fiona fell silent.
Well…
“Isn’t that why?”
Dora’s treatment of Stella as a mother-in-law had been cruel, to say the least.
Even the things Evan had personally given Stella had been forcibly taken back by Dora.
In any relationship between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, that would count as a serious conflict.
Dora shook her head. “No. It doesn’t feel like that.”
Fiona asked, “It doesn’t?”
“If she wanted revenge because of what I did to her before, she wouldn’t have waited until now.”
Fiona said nothing.
“She would never have agreed to divorce in the first place.”
If Stella had truly wanted to torment them, she would not have waited until now.
Fiona asked, “So what are you saying?”
“Something must have happened. Something made her change her mind.”
“What could have happened?”
“I don’t know, but I’m sure something happened. That’s why she changed her decision.”
If nothing had happened, Stella and Evan would have already divorced by now.
She would not be causing all this trouble now.
Fiona fell silent.
