3Chapter 402
Lucas knew there was no talking Stella out of it.
Evan had sent him here to persuade her, but Lucas had never really planned to try that hard.
And honestly, he couldn’t be blamed.
He had seen what Stella’s life had been like in the Wright family. He had also seen the way Evan turned a blind eye whenever his family went after her.
Back then, Lucas had tried to talk sense into him.
But Evan hadn’t listened.
Whenever Stella clashed with the Wrights, Lucas would try to warn Evan. Evan always said Stella could handle it, then pretended not to know.
And now?
Stella was handling it.
She was just doing it with ruthless methods.
So now Evan wanted Lucas to talk her down?
How was he supposed to do that?
In Lucas’s eyes, Evan had brought this on himself.
Since Evan had once been so sure Stella could handle everything on her own, he had no choice now but to accept the way she chose to handle it.
“Anyway,” Lucas said, “I have a photo here. Want to take a look?”
As he spoke, he pulled out his phone and handed it to Stella.
Stella glanced at the photo on the screen, then looked back at him. Her brows drew together.
୮
When she spoke again, her voice had turned cold. “Where did you see this photo?”
“On Jane Gass’s instagram account.”
Jane Gass was a highly respected medical professor, but he also loved mountain climbing and expeditions.
He often posted meaningful photos on his public account.
Because he knew so many prominent people, his account also had plenty of photos of him with celebrities, business figures, and other well-known names.
Lucas had come across this particular photo a few days ago while scrolling through Jane Gass’s public
account.
Stella looked at him. “You scroll through social media?”
“When work gets exhausting, scrolling helps me relax. Į like watching travel and adventure bloggers.

There’s something calming about it.”
Jane Gass worked in a high-pressure medical field, so he often used mountain climbing to relieve stress.
His account had tens of millions of followers.
Stella stared at Lucas without saying anything.
Lucas said, “Don’t look at me like that. I didn’t tell Evan.”
After all, Summer’s son was still in the ICU.
They had been trying to get Jane Gass to examine the child, but they had never been able to find him.
Jane Gass was already retired.
Unless it involved someone extremely close to him, he almost never came out of retirement anymore.
And now Stella had a photo with him. What did that mean?
It meant she and Jane Gass had a connection that didn’t look shallow.
And then there was Aaron standing on the other side of Jane Gass. In the same photo, Aaron and Stella looked strikingly alike.
Stella said, “I’m not close to him. Even if you tell Evan, it won’t do him any good.”
She was telling the truth.
She really wasn’t that close to Jane Gass. They had only met once.
But Aaron was close to him.
Lucas said, “No, I’m not asking about your relationship with Jane Gass.”
“Oh? Then what are you asking?”
“You and Aaron Hogarth.”
Ever since Lucas saw that photo, everything seemed to click into place.

That was why, when Leon said Felix was backing Stella, Lucas had said things might not be that simple.
