Chapter 41.7

Summer didn’t have depression

But Evan felt like he did now.

Patrick walked in with a file, his expression grave

The moment Evan saw his face, irritation rose in his chest.

“Something happened again?”

Right now, everyone at Wright Corporation was on edge. Rumors were spreading everywhere that Wright Corporation might really go bankrupt this time.

And whenever Patrick had that look on his face, it never meant anything good.

Facing Evan, Patrick let out a heavy sigh.

Evan asked, “Hogarth Group again?”

“Yes.”

Patrick nodded.

Because of Hogarth Group, they had been working overtime for several nights in a row.

Every department was full of resentment now.

Hearing that it was Hogarth Group again, Evan’s eyes darkened completely.

He took a hard drag from the cigarette in his hand.

Patrick continued, “A vice president from Hogarth Group is coming to Harbor City.”

“Who?”

The moment Evan heard someone from Hogarth Group was coming, he snapped to attention.

“Christian,” Patrick said.

Christian.

A striking, almost dangerously beautiful face surfaced in Evan’s mind.

That man had started out as a dancer.

But in business, he had an exceptional mind.

By chance, Hogarth Group had discovered him, and from then on, he had stayed with the company.

He was good-looking.

But he was also up there in age.

Still, on him, the phrase aging beautifully truly applied.

A man had no business looking that good.

Evan narrowed his eyes. “Christian is coming to Harbor City at a time like this. So she’s involved with Christian from Hogarth Group? Felix sold her to that old man?”

Christian was only in his early fifties, but that still counted as old in Evan’s mind.

A mocking sneer crossed Evan’s eyes. “I thought she had climbed onto some impressive branch. Is this all?”

Even if that was all, he had to admit Wright Corporation had taken a brutal hit this time.

But Christian was only a vice president at Hogarth Group.

He did have some real authority, but only because Hogarth’s true leader valued him.

If the top people found out this was how he behaved, would he still have a place in Hogarth Group?

A dark look flickered in Evan’s eyes.

In that instant, he seemed to already have a plan for striking back.

Patrick froze at Evan’s words.

Then he said, “That doesn’t seem possible. Christian has a family.”

“A family?” Evan gave a cold laugh. “Yes. He has a family. That’s even better.”

The fury in his eyes burned even hotter, as if he had thought of an even better method.

Looking at the darkness in Evan’s eyes, Patrick hesitated before saying, “Maybe there’s a misunderstanding here. Madam wouldn’t fall for a married man.”

In Patrick’s view, even if Stella chose Felix, she would never choose Christian.

Besides…

Hogarth Group was already targeting Wright Corporation aggressively. If Evan acted rashly against Christian, Patrick was afraid it would only provoke Hogarth Group even further.

“She wouldn’t?” Evan sneered. “There’s plenty she’s capable of.”

r

When he thought of Stella going in and out with Felix lately, and then thought of Hogarth Group’s attacks on Wright Corporation, it all looked more and more like Felix had sold Stella to some executive at Hogarth Group.
