Chapter 455
Prison.
Did Stella even understand what that meant?
It was a stain that would follow Summer for the rest of her life. No matter what, she could not let herself end up like that.
Stella let out a soft laugh.
“Hah.”
“You don’t know what I’m talking about?”
Summer shook her head. “No. I don’t.”
“Then take your time and think about it.”
With that, Stella picked up her phone and stood, then turned to go back into her room.
But Summer grabbed her leg.
“Stella, I’m begging you. Let me go see my child.
“You’ve lost a child too. You know how painful it is for a mother when her child’s life is hanging in the balance.”
“No,” Stella said. “You’re not in pain.”
Summer froze. “You…”
What did she mean?
She was the child’s mother. How could she not be in pain?
“Do you even hear yourself?”
Furious, Summer could not stop herself from blurting out what she was really thinking.
Stella looked down at her. “I may not sound kind, but unlike you, I haven’t done anything inhuman.”
Summer went rigid.
At Stella’s words, her entire body trembled.
She looked up and met Stella’s eyes, and her heart dropped in fear.
How had she forgotten?
Right now, if any of them wanted even the smallest privilege, they had to get Stella’s permission first.
What had she just done?
How had she let her true thoughts slip out?
Under Stella’s queenlike stare, Summer lowered her head in humiliation.
“I’m sorry. I… I was just too anxious.”
“You’re not anxious for your child,” Stella said. “You’re just not sincere enough when you beg.

With that, Stella kicked Summer away.
Summer had done all of it.
And yet she still dared to pretend.
She did not know what Stella was talking about?
No.
It was not that she did not know.
It was that she did not dare admit it.
And she did not want to.
Stella said, “If you really loved your child, then the moment I asked you, you would have told me everything. But you didn’t.
“All that talk about being afraid of losing your child? You’re only afraid that once you lose that child, you’ll lose your place in the Wright family. No, that’s not all. There must be another reason too.”
Summer said nothing.
Stella’s eyes sharpened. “You must have some kind of plan for that child, don’t you? What is it? Are you planning to use him to frame me again?”
The word frame pierced Summer’s heart like a blade.
Stella’s tone was light.
But in Summer’s ears, it sounded brutally sharp.
So sharp that there was nowhere for her to hide.
Summer took a deep breath and still wanted to say something.
But Stella no longer gave her the chance. She went straight back into her room.
Looking at the closed door, Summer shut her eyes in pain.
She understood now.
Stella wanted her to admit she had hurt her, and then she wanted to send her to prison.
She was so vicious.
But how could Summer go to prison?
If she went in, everything would be over.
Whether it was the Wright family or the Bailey family, none of it would have anything to do with her anymore.
So no matter what, she could not go to prison.
No matter what.
Full of humiliation and rage, Summer got up from the floor and went straight back to her room.
Mrs. Mendes was exhausted and had already fallen asleep on the small bed in the corner.
