Chapter 56

Hearing Evari’s words, Patrick instantly understood the reason behind it

He had to admit, if that really was what Frank had been planning, then Prank was far more vicious than most people could imagine.

And Summer was far more disgusting than most people could bear.

But if Frank really had that kind of ambition, it was not impossible.

Back when he had been competing with Steven, everyone had assumed it was just ordinary business rivalry.

But considering his relationship with Summer, and the fact that the child Summer had given birth to was also his, then perhaps what he had been after was exactly what Evan had just said.

Evan clenched both hands into fists, the air around him cold and dangerous.

“What’s the situation with Frank’s father?”

Patrick said, “He has been demanding to see you.”

“See me?” Evan gave a cold laugh.

Patrick said nothing.

“He really raised a fine son.”

The Holland family had only moved to Harbor City a few years ago. They were newcomers.

And yet they had such enormous ambition.

How could Frank alone possibly have that much ambition?

Right now, Evan did not care why Frank’s father, that old bastard, had such ambition toward the Wright family.

The fact that Steven’s death was connected to Frank was enough.

He would never let the Holland family go.

Evan closed his eyes. “Proceed according to plan.”

Those words were practically forced out through clenched teeth.

From the moment he found out that Summer and Frank had been involved with each other, Evan had already cast a wide net around the Holland family.

If Steven’s death had nothing to do with Frank, that net might not have been drawn in so quickly.

But now…

Summer had been leaking Steven’s schedule to Frank the entire time.

Thinking of the near fatal dangers Steven had encountered after marrying Summer, Evan felt a chill run through him.

Before they knew about Summer and Frank, everyone had assumed Steven had simply been unlucky during those years, always running into dangerous situations.

But now…

They finally understood.

There was no such thing as bad luck.

Fot people in their position, if danger kept happening again and agat, someone had to be pulling strings behind the scenes.

Patrick nodded. “I’ll notify everyone right away.”

Just then, Summer called Evan.

The moment the call connected, her grief-stricken voice came through. “Evan, will you only be satisfied if I die?”

Hearing her voice, Evan’s grip on the phone tightened,

The knuckles of his slender fingers had gone faintly white.

What did it mean to be unable to suppress one’s rage?

This was it.

“No. I won’t be satisfied.”

Evan’s voice was mocking and ice-cold.

Of course they would not be satisfied.

Right now, he wanted to tear Summer apart himself.

Because she and Steven had been close, Evan had told himself again and again after Steven died that he had to take good care of her and the child for Steven’s sake.

He had taken over Steven’s responsibility.

No matter how Stella fought with him…

Yes.

It was because of Summer that Stella had started fighting him.

It was because of Summer that Stella had turned everything upside down.

But because Evan had taken over Steven’s responsibility, no matter how much trouble Stella caused, his care for Summer and the child had never changed.

It had never been affected.

Because of that responsibility, and because of Summer’s repeated scheming behind the scenes, he had completely lost Stella.

The root of everything that had gone wrong between them was Summer.

Because of Summer, he had lost Stella’s trust.

He had lost all of her.

So now Summer was asking whether they would finally be satisfied if she died?

How could that possibly satisfy them?

He, and even the entire Wright family, had lost so much because of Summer.

How could her death alone ever be enough?
