Chapter 671
As far as Dora knew, Stella had been treated well at the orphanage.
Several families had wanted to adopt her over the years, but Stella had always refused, and the orphanage had never forced her to go.
Stella said, “The compensation from the demolition of our old house was a substantial amount, wasn’t it? Do you think I would have been better off staying with my mother or growing up in an orphanage?”
Dora said nothing.
After hearing that, she found herself unable to respond.
In the end, she only asked, “So this can never really end, can it?”
This time, Stella fell silent.
She simply stared at Dora.
That silence made Dora feel even more suffocated.
“What if I die? If I die, will you let everyone else go?”
Everyone else.
The people Dora wanted to protect most were Fiona and Evan.
Since all of this was directed at her, she suddenly wondered whether everything would finally end if she died.
But she was wrong.
Stella hated her.
And she hated the entire Wright family as well.
Stella said, “Even if you die, this won’t end. After all, everything you did back then was for the Wright family.
“People say every debt has its debtor. When it comes to my mother, you were responsible, and so was the Wright family. I’m not dragging innocent people into this, am I?”
Dora said, “Back then, it was all me. I was the one who wanted your father–in–law to take control of Wright Group. I was the one desperate to prove myself. Everything was my fault. Let everyone else go.”
The more Dora spoke, the tighter her throat became.
It wasn’t that she was being generous and wanted Stella to spare the rest of the Wright family.
The people she cared about most were Evan and Fiona.
If this continued, who knew what else Stella might expose?
Stella saw right through her thoughts.
She let out a mocking laugh. “What are you so afraid of? Honestly, you should be thanking me.”
Dora said nothing.
The word “thanking” stabbed at her heart.

Things had already reached this point, and Stella still expected her gratitude.
It was absurd.
Stella continued, “If it weren’t for me, you and your son Evan would have spent the rest of your lives being fooled by Summer.”
Dora remained silent.
Stella said, “You would have kept treating Summer like some precious daughter–in–law, even though she gave birth to another man’s child. You would have treasured that bastard child as if he were your own blood.”
“You would have gone your entire lives believing that child was Steven’s. And because of that child, Frank would have continued fighting Evan.”
“Oh, right. Wasn’t it Frank who caused Steven’s death?”
“She would have joined forces with Frank and kept plotting against Evan until he was dead too, all so a Holland child could inherit the entire Wright family fortune.”
“Not just you the whole Wright family would have become a laughingstock. Shouldn’t you be thanking me for that?”
Dora said nothing.
