Chapter 755
Stella did not understand.
Aaron said, “If Evan really went to Seaborne, bringing him back will not be easy. Your divorce may become more complicated than you think.”
“Why wouldn’t it be easy? You…”
Was there really anything in the world the Hogarth family could not handle?
Not knowing where Evan had gone was one thing.
But now that they knew where he was, how could finding him be difficult?
Aaron said, “If he went to Seaborne, then he has most likely connected with Amos Cunnan.‘
Stella went still.
Amos Cunnan.
Hearing that name again, she suddenly remembered.
Aaron and Amos had once been close friends.
But that had been a long time ago.
Now, they were enemies.
“It’s his territory,” Aaron said, his voice growing deeper. “My people cannot go there.”
There was something complicated in his tone when he spoke of Amos.
But Stella could not tell what that emotion was.
Still, Aaron said his people could not enter Seaborne.
That meant they could not.
It did not sound like fear.
It sounded more like an unspoken boundary between two men.
“So if Evan really is in Seaborne, I can only divorce him when he decides he wants a divorce?”
Aaron said nothing.
He only gave her a quiet look.
Stella let out a sigh.
“All right. I get it. I missed the best chance to divorce him.”
“You were too confident,” Aaron said.
She had been so certain that once things reached that point, Evan would want a divorce more than anything
So she had never imagined he would simply disappear.
“Yes,” Stella said. “With a brother like you, it’s hard not to be confident.”
When she had gone after the Wright family, had she not carried herself with that same confidence?
That arrogance had been enough to crush them completely.
Aaron paused.
Then a rare smile appeared on his serious face.
After dinner, Michael still had not returned.
Aaron received a phone call and had to head out as well.
Before leaving, he looked at Stella.
“Get some rest tonight. Leah will come for you tomorrow.”
Stella said nothing.
Leah again.
She had only just returned. What exactly was Aaron planning to have her do with Leah?
Why was he telling Stella to train with Leah instead of assigning Leah to stay beside her as protection?
The more Stella thought about it, the worse her feeling became.
The butler escorted Stella upstairs.
“Miss Stella, you’ll be staying in the same room as last time,” he said as they walked. “Mr. Hogarth had more things added to it, all chosen to suit your preferences.”
“Aaron knows what I like?”
The butler smiled.
“If Mr. Hogarth wants to know something, there is nothing he cannot find out.”
Stella said nothing.
That sounded familiar.
