Chapter 843

And Stella had said it herself.

If Jennifer asked for help, she would help her.

With Stella’s support came the power of the Hogarth family.

If she really stepped in, Leon and Jennifer might never see each other again.

Leon glanced at the suitcase Jennifer had packed.

For once, he was grateful he had arrived in time.

“You really don’t hold back, do you?” he said. “You can’t get it done here, so you’re planning to leave the country and do it somewhere else?”

“Let go of me.”

“Did you ever think about fighting for this child?”

It was his child too.

In Leon’s eyes, no matter what, they should at least try.

But from the moment Jennifer found out she was pregnant, it seemed like her first instinct had been to

give up.

She had never once considered keeping it.

That thought left Leon unsettled.

Still, he knew he had no right to blame her.

“How am I supposed to fight for it?” Jennifer asked. “Stella fought hard enough, didn’t she?”

She had fought.

And what had it gotten her?

“We’re not them,” Leon said. “You can’t compare us to them.”

“We’re worse than they ever were.”

It was the truth.

When Dora found out Stella was pregnant, she had at least pretended to care.

But the Redsons had not even bothered to pretend.

And now Leon wanted Jennifer to fight for this?

He still wanted to claim they were different from Stella and Evan?

They were worse.

“Don’t say that. We’re not worse. I’m not like Evan.”

Jennifer gave a bitter laugh.

That only made him sound more ridiculous.

“I’ll protect you,” Leon said. “I’ll always stand with you.”

In Leon’s mind, things had gone so wrong between Evan and Stella because Evan had never been firm enough.

He had never truly stood by Stella.

Especially whenever Summer was involved, Evan always seemed to choose Summer instead.

That was why Leon believed his relationship with Jennifer was different.

But Jennifer laughed.

“You’ll always stand with me?”

“Yes. Whenever there’s a conflict, I’ll choose you.”

“What about yesterday?”

Leon went silent.

Jennifer had brought up yesterday.

His face stiffened.

“You make promises so easily,” she said. “But where were you standing yesterday? Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten.”

Now he claimed he would always choose her.

But yesterday, that was not what he had done.

Men could say the sweetest things when they needed to

But what mattered was what they actually did.

Leon said he would always stand with her, yet yesterday had proved otherwise.

There was Monique.

And before that, there had been the hundred dollars.

Everything showed that his words and his actions did not match.

Leon drew in a slow breath
