Chapter 848

Leon’s voice was icy over the phone, carrying a level of anger Shane had rarely heard from him.

“Ms. Tanner refuses to come back,” Shane said.

“Then bring her back.”

The meaning was clear.

If Jennifer wanted to leave Harbor City by force, Leon would use whatever pressure he had to make her stay.

“Understood.”

“I’m on my way. Get her back first.”

“Yes, sir.”

Leon ended the call and started toward the exit.

But Vivian grabbed his arm.

“Monique still hasn’t come out.”

The reminder was quiet.

But the displeasure behind it was obvious.

“What matters more?” Leon asked coldly. “Monique or your grandchild?”

“What do you think?”

To Vivian, of course Monique mattered more right now.

“So my child matters less to you than Monique does?”

“Leon, what kind of thing is that to say?”

He had never spoken to her like this before.

Now every word was sharp.

Vivian was furious.

This was all Jennifer’s fault.

Her son had never been this unreasonable before Jennifer came along.

Leon checked the time on his watch

“I know what you’re trying to do. Monique and I grew up together. We are just friends. You’re never going to turn that into something else:”

No one knew what Monique was thinking now.

But Leon’s position was clear.

And he believed Monique felt the same.

They had always been friends.

How could that suddenly turn into marriage?

“She’s a woman, not one of your buddies,” Vivian snapped. “Stop being ridiculous.”

“Am I the one being ridiculous, or are you?”

Leon’s anger was close to boiling over.

Monique’s situation was already a mess.

Jennifer was giving him an even bigger headache.

In the end, Leon left the hospital.

At the airport, Shane tried to take Jennifer back.
