Chapter 879
Felix had an agenda.
But Evan truly did not.
Hearing Stella accuse him like that still hurt.
She was the woman he loved.
He did not want her to see him that way.
“Am I wrong?” Stella asked.
“I’m not using you.”
“Felix says the same thing.”
Did saying it make it true?
She no longer trusted anything a man said.
Evan fell silent.
Her words left him feeling suffocated.
“Whatever you think, Seymour is staying with you.”
He had discovered that ever since everything with Summer, Stella had become far too sharp–tongued.
If he kept arguing with her, they would never reach the end of it.
“I don’t want him around.”
“You don’t have a choice.”
His tone was forceful.
That immediately reminded Stella of how he had behaved whenever Summer was involved.
“You were this forceful about Summer too.”
Evan went silent again.
“Things with Summer finally ended between us, and now you’re starting something else?”
Every time Stella brought up Summer, Evan’s head began to ache.
Apparently, that old wound was never going away.
Nothing had even happened yet, and the moment she was unhappy, she dragged the past back out.
At this rate, she would probably hold it over him for the rest of his life.
But that was fine.
If he could win her back, she could bring it up for as long as she wanted.
“Tell him to get lost,” Stella said. “Whatever happens to me now has nothing to do with you.”
“No.”
Neither of them was willing to back down.

Even when Stella brought up Summer, Evan still refused.
“Then what if I get rid of him??”
The line went silent.
Evan knew she was not joking.
The gentler Stella had once been in Harbor City, the more ruthless she had become now.
She had even gone to war with Felix over Summer.
Their people had been the ones fighting, but what difference did that make?
It was still Stella and Felix turning on each other.
“You can’t take Seymour down,” Evan said. “Stella, things around you are too complicated right now. Let him stay close for the next few days.”
“I already have…”
“The fact that the Hogarth family is training you in all those things proves you could be in danger at any moment.”
Evan did not trust the Hogarth family either.
So no matter what Stella said, his position would not change.
Seymour had to stay with her.

His voice softened.
Stella knew then that she was not going to get rid of Seymour so easily.
