Evan fell silent.
“You say that like you’re any better,” Stella added.
“Then could you…”
“You managed to put Seymour by my side. Surely you’re capable of helping your own sister.”
Why did he need to involve her?
Right now, Stella felt incapable of doing anything.
Whenever someone asked something of her, it only felt like another burden.
She did not want to help.
She did not have the energy to help.
“Your brother has surrounded her with guards,” Evan said. “My people can’t get anywhere near her.”
If he had been able to reach Yara himself, why would he have called Stella?
Stella was different.
She and Yara had never been enemies in Harbor City.
If Stella visited her as a friend, Aaron probably would not stop her.
She could then find an opportunity to get Yara out.
“You clearly have no idea what kind of position I’m in here,” Stella said.
Evan went silent.
“I might as well be blind. I can’t see anything clearly. I don’t understand what you and Felix are trying to do, and I don’t understand what the Hogarth family truly means for me.” 1
“Now that you’ve called me about this, I’m even starting to wonder what role Yara plays in all of it. Asking me to rescue her feels like you’re using me too.”
“Is that really what you think?”
“That’s what everything around me feels like.”
It was as though she had walked into a trap with no way out.
From the moment she returned to Eirden, she had felt trapped in a situation with no way out.
Now, no matter who said anything to her, her first instinct was to wonder whether they were trying to use her.
She wanted to escape.
But she felt powerless to do so.
Evan heard the helplessness in her voice.
He understood what she was going through.

“I told you to come to Seaborne with Seymour,” he said. “I’ll protect you. That’s the only way out of this.
This time, he meant every word.
He genuinely wanted to keep Stella safe.
“Do you honestly think I can trust you?”
Evan fell silent.
Clearly, she could not.
Stella could not trust anyone now.
Not a single person.
Evan sighed.
“What else can I say?”
No matter what he told her, she would not believe him.
Stella had no desire to continue the conversation.
She ended the call.
She would not help Yara.
If she could not fight back, then she would simply do nothing at all.
”
On the other end, Evan nearly smashed his phone in frustration.
“I’m going to Eirden,” he told Amos.
Amos had just arrived to tell him that everything was ready for the Black Sea operation.
The moment he heard Evan’s decision, his expression darkened.
“Felix is going to the Black Sea personally. Are you sure you want to go to Eirden now?”
Felix was going in person.
It seemed he was determined to secure that shipment.
A vein throbbed at Evan’s temple.
He kicked the coffee table beside him.
