Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 939

Jennifer sighed.

“Maybe this is just your fate.”

Perhaps Stella was simply destined never to meet a good man.

Evan had broken her heart completely.

Jennifer had thought Felix would be different.

But now he had disappointed her too.

“Is Evan really dead?” Jennifer asked.

She had heard the news from Leon.

When he first told her, she had been stunned.

She had always assumed a bastard like Evan would be impossible to kill.

Yet Leon had told her Evan was dead.

The news had spread throughout Harbor City over the past few weeks, but Jennifer still found it difficult to believe.

“Yes,” Stella said quietly. “It’s true.”

“Does someone like him really die that easily?”

Stella fell silent.

Did he?

Whether it made sense or not, he was dead.

Since arriving in Sevi Valley, Stella had rarely allowed herself to think about their past.

She had also avoided thinking about how Evan had actually died.

She did not want to revisit memories of a man who had destroyed every feeling she once had for him.

And yet, on the rare occasions when he crossed her mind, a dull ache still spread through her chest.

“How did he die?” Jennifer asked.

“It’s a long story,” Stella said. “And it had something to do with me.”

“What? Because of you?”

Jennifer stopped herself.

If that was true, what would Evan’s death do to Stella?

He had failed to cherish her while he was alive.

Then he had died because of her.

What was Stella supposed to do with that?

“He had Summer killed,” Stella said.

Jennifer was stunned.

“I honestly don’t know what to say about either of them. Felix and Evan…”

Jennifer had once believed Felix would be the man who always stood firmly on Stella’s side.

But in the end, Evan had been the one who eliminated the person Stella hated most.

And he had paid for it with his life.

Back in Harbor City, Jennifer had always believed Evan did not love Stella.

If he had loved her, how could he have hurt her so deeply?

But now she was no longer sure.

Sometimes, it was impossible to tell whether a man truly loved someone.

Maybe the men who seemed easiest to read were the ones whose feelings ran the shallowest.

Felix, for example.

“So Felix and your brother might hand you over to General Litt in exchange for whatever they want?” Jennifer asked.

“Yes.”

Jennifer fell silent again.

“They’re tearing everything apart looking for me now,” Stella continued. “They probably need me back so they can use me in their negotiations.”

After all, their plan could not proceed unless they had control of her.
