Before the housekeeper could finish, Felix was already heading upstairs to find Aaron.
The study door swung open.
Aaron was in the middle of a video conference, and his expression was already grim.
When he saw Felix, he turned back to the screen.
“That’s all for today.”
Then he shut the laptop.
“What are you doing?”
His tone was sharp.
He clearly hated being interrupted during meetings.
Felix sat down on the sofa across from him.
Aaron studied his expression.
“What’s with that look?”
“Do you think she’ll be back before the wedding?”
Aaron said nothing.
Felix’s gaze hardened.
“Maybe you haven’t been ruthless enough with Amos.”
“And you have?”
Aaron shot back.
The accusation was almost laughable.
If Aaron had not been ruthless enough with Amos, then no one had.
Yet even now, Amos still showed no sign of handing Stella over.
His loyalty to Evan must have run deeper than either of them had expected.
Felix lit a cigarette.
Before he could take a drag, his phone began vibrating.
He assumed it was a work call.
Then he saw Stella’s name on the screen.
“It’s Stella.”
He glanced at Aaron.
Aaron immediately reopened the tracking system on his laptop.
“Answer it.”
Felix accepted the call.
The moment it connected, Stella’s voice came through.
“You’re tracing my location right now, aren’t you?”
“Stella…”
“Do you have to violate my privacy every single time?”
The question made both Felix and Aaron feel guilty.
If she trusted Amos, then in Felix’s eyes, she was trusting Evan too.
He had never expected their dealings with General Litt to drive Stella back toward Evan’s side.
“You’re searching for me this desperately because General Litt asked for me, aren’t you?” Stella asked.
Felix stiffened.
“How did you…”
“Yes or no?”
Stella cut him off again.
Was he going to ask how she knew?
Or was he preparing to deny it?
Unfortunately for him, the truth was already out.
He could no longer talk his way around it.
“It’s not what you think,” Felix said.
Stella gave a cold laugh.
“Of course you’d deny it. Why would either of you ever admit to doing something that shameless?”
She had known before making the call that Felix would deny it.
But it no longer mattered.
Remi had told her what was happening, and Stella had verified the information through another source.
They had truly disappointed her beyond words.
