The King of the Silver Tower couldn’t help but laugh as he spoke.
But Ji Ziyue and Gu Sheng noticed that while saying this, the King of the Silver Tower’s eyes glanced at his silver tower.
This tiny expression revealed that his resolve was starting to waver.
"Never heard of these four words being lethal."
Ji Ziyue’s lips curved upward slightly, and she shot Gu Sheng a meaningful look.
Gu Sheng was momentarily stunned, but then after Ji Ziyue winked at him with her right eye, he immediately understood.
Quietly, Gu Sheng began to stir his Divine Power.
The purple ring on his hand instantly glowed with a violet light.
This violet light, driven by hidden energy and Divine Power, immediately rose into something resembling flames of purple.
The King of the Silver Tower froze at the sight.
"Boss... this... purple flames! Purple flames!"
One of the King of the Silver Tower’s subordinates stepped forward, exclaiming.
"Seen it now, haven’t you? Everyone says real gold fears no fire. That silver tower of yours... tsk tsk tsk..."
Ji Ziyue smacked her lips, intentionally leaving her sentence unfinished.
The King of the Silver Tower’s expression changed; his lips moved, but no sound emerged.
To him, the silver tower in his hand was his greatest reliance.
If what Ji Ziyue said was true, wouldn’t he be plunging headfirst into an immense crisis?
By then, people would be calling him the "King Who Lost His Tower."
Seeing the King of the Silver Tower’s shifting expression, Ji Ziyue knew her words had struck their mark.
"Gu Sheng, let me help you!"
Ji Ziyue said, abruptly summoning her Divine Power.
In an instant, the purple ring’s radiant blue glow became even more dazzling.
The King of the Silver Tower hesitated. He looked at his silver tower, then at Ji Ziyue, clearly weighing the risks and benefits.
To him, it was better to believe than disbelieve.
It simply wasn’t worth taking the risk.
"Hmph, you two got lucky today."
The King of the Silver Tower snorted coldly and stored away his silver tower.
Ji Ziyue and Gu Sheng exchanged a glance and both let out a sigh of relief.
They knew this tactic was only a temporary reprieve from the danger.
Once the King of the Silver Tower figured it out, he wouldn’t let it go.
"Let’s go."
Gu Sheng whispered softly.
Then, he and Ji Ziyue quickly fled the scene, disappearing into the valley.
The King of the Silver Tower watched their silhouettes fading away, his eyes glinting with malice.
"Boss, should we chase them?"
One of his subordinates stepped forward to ask.
"Chase? Chase what? Are you asking to die?"
The King of the Silver Tower replied coldly.
"But... but they... they ran away..."
The subordinate pointed in the direction where Ji Ziyue and Gu Sheng had vanished, looking aggrieved.
"Ran..."
The King of the Silver Tower was momentarily stunned.
He silently pondered to himself: If Gu Sheng’s Purple Fire was truly so formidable, why would they flee in such haste?
And besides, if the Purple Fire could really destroy the silver tower, shouldn’t he be the one running?
Something wasn’t right!
This definitely wasn’t right!
"Damn it! We’ve been tricked!"
The King of the Silver Tower finally realized, slapping his forehead in frustration.
"Follow me! Chase them!"
The King of the Silver Tower shouted.
Immediately, he led several dozen of his subordinates in a grand pursuit of Ji Ziyue and Gu Sheng.
Meanwhile, as Gu Sheng hurried forward, he furrowed his brows.
He seemed to sense a pulse of energy from behind.
This pulse could only mean that the King of the Silver Tower and his men were rapidly approaching.
Gu Sheng felt a chill in his heart, realizing that the King of the Silver Tower had seen through their ploy.
"Ziyue, I feel the King of the Silver Tower’s aura. We must pick up the pace!"
Gu Sheng said anxiously.
"Yeah, me too."
Ji Ziyue nodded.
Both were injured to varying degrees; even if they fought, they could only muster half of their power.
They channeled their Divine Power, pushing to escape as fast as they could.
But even so, their speed still wasn’t sufficient.
"Uh..."
The King of the Silver Tower stammered, scrambling to come up with a plausible excuse.
After a long pause, he muttered, "I was just worried about Gu Sheng’s safety and wanted to have a good chat with him."
"Heh."
Ji Ziyue chuckled coldly, clearly unpersuaded by his nonsense.
"King of the Silver Tower, we all understand your intentions. Now, you may leave."
Ji Ziyue said coldly.
The King of the Silver Tower’s face turned sour, realizing that he wouldn’t get his way today.
Yet, he wasn’t willing to give up so easily.
He shifted his gaze to Gu Sheng, his eyes gleaming with greed.
"Ji Ziyue, are you really going to side with an outsider against me?"
"Gu Sheng is a friend of Ji Ziyue. Protecting him is the right thing for us to do."
Ji Ziyue responded without fear.
The King of the Silver Tower’s eyes flashed with cruelty as he looked between his own men and the fierce Ji family warriors ahead of him.
He calculated in his mind: "Both sides have heads on their shoulders. Why not just risk it all?"
With this thought driving him, the King of the Silver Tower decided to take an aggressive approach.
"So be it, don’t blame me for being ruthless!"
The King of the Silver Tower waved his hand, signaling his men to attack.
The Ji family warriors immediately prepared themselves for combat, ready to strike.
"Show no mercy. Let the King of the Silver Tower witness the power of the Ji family!"
Ji Ziyue commanded.
Not wanting to back down, a small group of the King of the Silver Tower’s men charged forward, hoping to seize the early advantage.
However, the Ji family only sent out a single warrior to meet them.
This warrior’s movements were as swift as lightning, his strength overwhelming.
"Clang, clang, clang..."
In just a few exchanges, those members of the King of the Silver Tower’s group were all defeated, many taken down instantly.
"What... this..."
The King of the Silver Tower was utterly shocked; he hadn’t expected his men to be so pitifully weak.
"Useless fools! You’re an embarrassment! Retreat!"
The King of the Silver Tower, realizing that there was no advantage to be gained, immediately ordered a retreat.
