Chapter 30
Xander
Her door was open. Not just a little bit either, it was wide open and giving me a clear view of her spacious ary hallway. I could see a pair of crocs kicked into the corner by the stairs.
My nose wrinkled. Of course she was the kind of girl who wore crocs. Of course she was.
I tossed the thought away, kicking down the kick stand I got to her the second she slipped out of the back of the uber.
Her eyes were glued to the door just like mine was.
I caught her around the elbow to stop her moving forward and her head snapped around to me.
“I didn’t leave it open.” She whispered.
“Ok.” I kept my grip on her. “Then stay here with Killian and I’ll check it out.” I could already hear him coming behind us. The summer air felt oddly thick and silent without the thrum of our engines. Not even a bird chirped.
“What’s going on?” Killian asked. Coming up on the other side of her. He eyed the door suspiciously. “Did you forget to lock up?”
“No.” She snapped and then faltered. “At least I don’t think I did.” She sounded so unsure of herself, that it took all I had not to pull her into my side and hold her. There was real fear in her voice.
But I couldn’t do that. Not yet. She had been pretty clear that she needed time to think about our proposition and I wanted to give her that time. I was as impatient as Killian in claiming her as our woman but I wasn’t a big asshole like he was.
I could give her a little space.
In theory anyway.
“Stay with her.” I ordered. Half pushing her into his arms. And of course he had no qualms in pulling her close. She didn’t even fight it. It reminded me that they had a history together. Maybe not the best history but they still had a past.
“You want me to-” Killian eyed the door thoughtfully. As always he was gunning for a fight.
I shook my head. “Just stay with her. I’ve got it.”

It took me less that five minutes to check her house. Nothing seemed to have been taken of vandalised. The only thing slight out of place was a half open
drawer full of lacy and silky scraps of underwear.
I stared down at them and my mouth watered. Lottie had he kind of body men dreamt of and I wanted to see her model every single piece of lingerie in her
collection.
“There’s nothing.” I called from the front door. “You must have forgotten to lock it.”
Even with the distance separating us, I saw the frown on her face. The line that appeared between her eyebrows. “Maybe.” She didn’t sound so sure. “But I’m usually pretty careful about my security.” She strode towards me. Killian hot on her heels.

Killian’s eyes shot upwards. “Have you been having problems with them?” He caught her elbow and span her around so she went crashing into his chest. “Well, have you?” He demanded.
Who the hell were they talking abou
“No.” She shook her head. Her bottom lip trembling. “No it was never them I was worried about. It was you.’
Killian did a double take. “Me?”
She nodded slowly. “I know what I mean.” She stuttered to a stop.
“I’ve never been the one to climb through your window Lottie.” Killian’s voice was rough but there was a note of teasing to it. “That’s always been your trick!”
I glanced between the two of them. Was it my imagination or was she blushing.
“You used to climb through his window?” I asked stupidly. When I had first met Killian and he had told me his story. He had made his faster sister out to be the biggest bitch in the world. Now it didn’t seem to be that way at all.
She shrugged.
“Like a spider monkey.” He chuckled.
“Sounds fun. How about we go back to ours and talk?” I eyed her, gauging her reaction. But I couldn’t read it. She just looked confused.
“I should probably get to job hunting.” She shrugged.
Only I knew that she wasn’t going to do that. She was going to wallow in that big empty house all by herself. And make the wrong decision.
“Job hunting always goes easier with a pool to dip your feet into and an ice/cold cock-”
She shot Killian a warning look that just made him chuckle.
“An ice cold cocktail in your hand.”
A look passed between us. When it came to Lottie we seemed to be in complete agreement. She was ours.
And if she wanted to get to know us, really get to know us then we would start now.
I caught her around the hips and lifted her over my shoulder.
