Chapter 54

Killian

The fact that she was taking it all in her stride with a smile on her gorgeous face shouldn’t have shocked me but it did.

Even when we had been kids, stupid teenagers with nothing but a dream of being with each other she had been liked wherever she had gone. And here was

no exception.

The men, my brothers in the club seemed instantly drawn to her. Even the old ladies who didn’t like any one new seemed to gravitate around her.

For the first twenty minutes she clung to my hand. By the time thirty minutes had passed she had wandered off to chat to the other women.

Their heads together as they giggled and threw glances in my direction.

They were talking about me, and if Lotties blush was anything to go by they were getting into the nitty gritty of our relationship. Not that I cared. In that department I knew I was more than adequate.

“Hey brother.”

Over the rim of my beer bottle I watched as both Rancher and Xander slipped into the seats around me.

“Hey.”

I found Lottie with my eyes again. The women were no longer just chatting. Lottie was being dragged towards the far side of the room where a makeshift

dance floor had been set up.

I knew what was coming next. Dancing.

Probably provocatively. And I knew because I could already feel the jealousy bubbling up that I would need to go and extract her from that situation before one of my club brothers got to handsy.

The sooner I got a property patch on her the better.

I wasn’t even sure how that would work when she belonged to the both of us.

“She’s fine. She’s having fun.” Xander said drawing my attention back to him, “You don’t need to watch out for her here,”

I wanted to argue that I had to watch over her everywhere but I took a sip of my drink instead.

“So what have you gents been talking about?”

Both of them paused. “Nothing to worry about.” Rancher said finally Which meant I should probably be very worried indeed “Just some business.”

“Club business or private?”

“Both.” Xander said quietly. “I’ll tell you about it when I have it finalised”

Now, that got my attention. Leaning forward I lowered my voice. “If it has anything to do with me or her suggest you tell me now.”

I nodded my head in Lotties direction “Then I

There was a crash and a whoop of female laughter and my head snapped around.

And sure enough she was dancing. But not on the dance floor. Oh no that would have been too easy to deal with. Instead Lottie had clambered up onto the bar. With one other of the old ladies Sending bottles and empty glasses flying as they began to gyrate.

A cheer went up from the gathered men, as they turned eager faces up to watch them.

“Oh hell no.” I was half way out of my seat when Xander’s hand lashed out and pushed me back down.

“Let her alone Irish.” He said roughly. “She’s just having fun and we have things we need to talk about.”

I didn’t mind Lottie having fun. In fact I loved the happiness on her face. It was the men watching her and drooling that I had a problem with. And if one s much as reached out a hand to her, I was going to cut it off.

“What do we need to discuss that’s more important?”

“Her safety.”

My eyes snapped to him. “What do you mean?”

“Josh.” Rancher said gruffly. “I’ve been doing some digging. He’s not stopped. Sure it’s his brother that is officially president but it’s Josh that is pulling the strings. They have been trafficking girls. It’s not just Lottie, it’s-”

Ranchers eyes narrowed as he shook his head. “There’s a lot of victims out there. I know from my contacts that the police have been checking into him for years but all they see is-”

“A poor little rich boy in a wheelchair? With not a mark on his pristine record.” I added sarcastically.

“Exactly. So we need to be careful with how we go forward. The last thing we need is-”

A loud noise caught my attention and my head swung around again. I was out of my chair in a second.

“I don’t fucking think so.” I said with a bellow as I crossed the room in a flash. Elbowing my brothers out of the way to shove the prospect back from my woman with so much force that he fell back on his ass.

“Hey man.” He glowered.

Ignoring him completely I swung Lottie over my shoulder. Slapping her ass, hard.

“What the fuck Irish.”

Pressing my foot into the middle of his chest I pushed him back down onto the beer and liquor splattered floor Grinding my heel into him

There might have been a time when he argued back but now wasn’t that time He fell backwards, holding his hands out in surrender.

“Sorry man, sorry. I didn’t know. Wildly he turned his pleading eyes on Lottie but she couldn’t see him from her place thrown over my shoulder.

“Well now you do. She is mine.”

I didn’t say another word, as I walked back to the table and sat. Keeping Lottie firmly on my lap.
